Nash running the show
Kobe's injury is not good news for the Lakers, but is this a possible blessing in disguise? We've never seen Nash running the offense completely with him sharing the ball with Kobe. I feel like this time, for however long Kobe is out, will help build more chemistry between him and the other players.
We've won 71% of our last 24 games and the system is starting to fall into place but I still feel that Steve isn't play-making enough. The team would be so much more dangerous is he and Kobe shared more of that role. When Kobe goes into chuck mode, he needs to step it up and take control of the reigns at times.

Kobe out is not good for the team. Without kobe this means whenever Nash is resting there isn't a reliable leader or playmaker on the floor. Blake has to really step up. Clark is ok so we will need him to be aggressive like kobe, get to the hoop more, and make plays for dwight like he did early on in the season.
Bottom line is everyone will have to step up....but Nash is going to have to play a lot better if kobe sits out...where 20 points and 10 assists needs to be the norm for him. Hate to say it but nash looked bad against atlanta....but so did every other laker...so that is just tired legs on the road. But I wonder if Nash can be a 20 point and 10 assist guy....there were games that I felt Nash could of had 30 points and 10 assists easily. But that is too much to ask I think so hopefully kobe will be good to play.
Kobe is the best closer in the game so not having him in crunch time will be tough.

Re: Nash running the show
The fullcourt press on Nash without a secondary ball handler is going to be brutal unless Mike starts Blake next to Nash.

We'll see, Nash used to have Diaw, Hedo & Hill as secondary ballhandler. MWP in Brown offense also handling the ball alot.

Maybe earlier in the season this could have been called a blessing in disguise but at this point, with every game being virtually a must win, losing Kobe for any extended period of time is catastrophic.

The only good thing I see coming from this is the team will play with a crazy sense of urgency, that will hopefully last throughout the playoffs if the Lakers can hold the 8th spot while Kobe's out. Gasol coming back should help out a lot.

Dwight, Nash, and Metta are gonna have to step it up over the next week until Pau returns. Luckily this isn't the most difficult stretch of the schedule...but even so we needed to run the table on these games.

20 and 10? He has never done that in his career. You are talking late 20s Magic and early 20s I. Thomas numbers. You can't expect a 39 years old to go there.
I doubt Kobe misses more than a week and he will probably try to play friday. If Nash can go 15-10 while shooting .550 it would be great. Nash has never had a scorer mentality, if he did he would have average 20 shots a game when he was running the show in Phoenix instead of 12 shots. It's not as if he didn't have the ability to go 25-7 instead of 18-11.

Re: Nash running the show
I'm not saying this is a good thing by any means, and every game at this point in the season is a must win. But Nash hasn't been playing up to his potential and this is a chance for him to do so. And hopefully, he'll continue to do this when Kobe returns.

I've seen Nash put up 49 and 9 on the Mavs in the post season, so that crap about him not being a play that will score the ball if it helps his team cut it out. Sure he likes to pass first and shoot third, but he also know that the seeds aren't set. So he'll do whatever it takes to win, look at him playin off the ball more of a shooting guard role

Probably has something to do with Hedo only playing 25 games for PHX in his career.

Learned to win without Pau, now learn to win without kobe. It's not good for us, but if it happened earlier it would have been great.
We would have been so dangerous. I still have hope though. We'll beat out Utah but if he's out for a while the 6th seed will be tough

Did I say he can't do it? I specifically said in my post that he had the hability to do it, it's just not the way he rather play. And I was obviously talking about a whole season, because he already went 20-10 over a short period of time, it's just not an average he ever reached consistently (like 99.99% of the players in the history). It's an average he is not likely to reach, so no need to use "crap" and "cut it out". The aggressiveness is not warranted.
And by the way, it's 48 points and 5 assists, and it was 8 years ago.

We are not talking about as a season average...we are talking about a few games if kobe sits out...because if kobe sits out Nash has to be able to take up some of the scoring load. 20 points and 7-10 assist is not unreasonable for him at all. It just means more pnr and more ball movement.
