I'm warming up to Oladipo.

2. Victor Oladipo, SG Indiana: I’m going to keep him at #2 for now. I’m still in the process of wrapping my head around what we have here. He’s a great defender and his scoring efficiency has been otherworldly for a SG. His numbers have the impressive look of some of the great SGs ever. The big negative is he has yet to prove he’s the big time scorer that all great SGs have been.

Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
The Gophers suck SO much! When I saw they were up with less than 2 to go and they missed those two possessions, I KNEW they were going to choke. They have been choking all year finding ways to lose games. So tired of soft Minnesota teams.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Now I'm not all caught up on the college ball news but why are so many Minnesotans convinced that Shaka Smart will come here? IS there some gurantee or something I don't know about?

TO be honest we want to trade that second first rounder.
Anyone we grab there (if we are innjury free, which we never are) will play very limited minutes.
Why? They say there's a lot of depth in the draft this year and the player will be very cheap. If Kahn is still picking, I think Patric Young is the pick there if he's still on the board. That's probably who I would take too.

Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
Which players would you draft before you trade away our pick? For me it's:
1. McLemore
2. Noel
3. Porter
4. Oladipo
If all of them our gone when we choose, I want us to trade away our pick. Maaaybe Shabazz, but I am still not convinced. McLemore and Noel are the only sure things for me. With Oladipo, we need to look for a shooter like Korver or Fredette as well. Porter is an SF and we would still miss a SG, I'm not sure if Budinger can play there permanently.

I would take shabazz over porter. Shabazz is a better spot up shooter, can play the 2 or 3, and is more athletic (although he hasnt shown it much this season) which is a greater need.
With that said drafting any of those 5 guys could change our future dramatically.

Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
Noel isn't a sure thing either with the ACL. For a big, that might be a bigger issue than a guard. I think this draft stinks for the Wolves and it's a good thing that the pick isn't make or break for them. I'd be doing everything to trade the pick away to a GM seeing a great SG in Oladipo. Unless luck can shine on them for the first time ever and we can get McLemore. I loved the idea of Noel spelling Love and Pek but I didn't realize the ACL was going to keep out part of next year. I'm not sure I want any part of that. I'd rather trade for somebody who can help now instead of drafting a player who can't workout for you.

Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
getting one of the top3 SGs in the draft would be awesome. Any possibility of trading up with our pick + Williams + Ridnour/Barea
I haven't been following college ball but for what I read McLemore, Muhammad and Oladipo all would fit great next to Rubio right? any other?
expectations for next year could be similar to this one with a healthy Brandon Roy:
Rubio - Barea
McLemore! - Shved - Budinger
Kirilenko - Budinger - Gelabale
Love - Cunningham
Pekovic - Stiemsma - Chris Johnson

i think we'll have a pretty good shot to snag one without trading if the news of love holds true. i would think that if he is cleared late this month to return to physical activities they won't bother bringing him back for the last few weeks.

Our AD Norwood Teague came from VCU

Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
During the deadline the rumor was that we were heavily shopping our picks. I doubt we will keep them unless the front office feels as though other teams are trying to sell disrespectfully low to us.

It's a shame too, because it would be really shortsighted to move that pick for anything less than an allstar center or wing.

A few years ago the rumor was that Rubio would never play for anyone but New York.
A few months ago the rumor was that Love was going to force his way out.
Rumors don't mean much when it comes to the Wolves.

Thats true but it matches up with our agenda. Our front office wants to win now and Adelman probly wouldnt want another rookie to deal with.

And they think that's enough to bring him to this craptacular loser state?

Pretty much
Heck, I'd be happy with a Greg Marshall (Wichita) or Greg McDermott (Creighton). We ain't getting Shaka

Then Adelman can catch the next train out of town IMO.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
