If we haven't gone through that terrible slump before Rondo's injury, we would be in this. Anyway, health is our main priority entering the playoffs. But I feel that we have an outside shot. We have been one of the hottest teams recently.

I'm more worried about the Celtics than the Nets cause we have 2 games left against them & they're gonna be key. These injuries aren't helping either. But we go as Melo goes... Hopefully that knee its gonna be good to go once we get back from this helluva West Coast trip.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

I think Boston and Chicago both beat either the nets or the Knicks in a playoff matchup. Pacers are getting the 2. Knicks are limping into the playoffs and the Nets are... either still figuring it out or just not a serious playoff team. Both the Nets and the Knicks have few places to hide come playoff time. Who wins the Atlantic isn't as important as where the teams finish in relation to one another. Finally both Nets and Knicks fans would be happy to face each other in the first round and I don't see either making ECF.

I dont think the Knicks are a contender, they could drop to the 6th or 7th seed if they are not careful

Everything depends on Melos knee. If he can come back and contribute they should be able to hang in the top 4 but if not they can drop for sure.

Good because we have 13 more of those

Good, so maybe your team can focus on playoff wins now, because the Raptors have 5 times as many playoff wins as the Knicks in the last decade.

the nets are 1 game back of the 2 seed.

the knicks are 3.5 games off the 7 seed. we dont know the extent yet of carmello/chandler injuries, but they are at least out the next few.

lets not pretend like this is an unrealistic scenario. only 4.5 games seperate 2nd and 7th place.

What does an individual's allegiance to a certain team have anything to do with their perspective on another team? Their allegiance to X has absolutely no correlation to their thoughts on Y.

Aside from wanting to hide the obvious, I don't see your point.

No. They are 1 game behind #3 seed, New York. They are 2.5 games behind #2 seed, Indiana.

5 games to be precise. I agree that it's quite close, though, since the #5, #6 and #7 seeds are all tied at 35 - 29.

Did anyone really believe Knicks would hold up ? when your 3 best players are injury prone then any long term success looks bleak.

Aside from your numbers being wrong, you're omitting the fact that there simply not a ton basketball left to be played. Indy has 24 losses, and 18 more games. Give them a 51-win pace. That's ending on 31 losses. Brooklyn is already at 27! Is it realistic to expect the Nets to go 14-3 the rest of the way to finish with 52 wins? Have they come even close to that over any 17 game stretch this season?

You should be given a warning for making too much sense on the general board.

Simple, it isn't just a perspective, it's a criticism. that makes its hypocritical.

It would be like Cousins making fun of a player for being immature

Nets went 12-4 to start 2013. Both teams are capable of bad stretches. Anything's possible.

Sure, anything is possible, what I asked is whether it's realistic. And it is not, barring some injury to Indiana.

Everyone knew (for the most part) that the Knicks early season success had a lot to do with their hot shooting, but also their D, which was playing well. But like everyone also said, their team is quite aged - it has shown with the injuries.

The Knicks have regressed to the mean. The team everyone thought they would be but the few never believed it. They still have that streakiness to them to be able to shoot lights out in a series, but they were the same way last year with their 3 pt shooting, and when they met a defensive oriented team like Miami, they were done in 5.
