Ever since the trade...
It seems like the Kings have found their offensive rhythm. I don't know what happened, but we went from a team that could barely score 80 points around he beginning of the year to putting up 110's, 120's, 130's, and even 140's in double overtime. Does anybody know what our ppg has been since the trade? Seems like it skyrocketed.

Biggest change was they finally started to share the ball. The whole team's passing has been great

I have to reiterate this point since I've said it a few times in the past couple years. Last night was the 1st time that the team players looked like they liked each other. I have been attending more games than I watch or listen to the past couple seasons and the players seemed to just not like each other. I would say this started about when Ron Ron came to town. Kevin Martin didn't seem to mesh with many people. Neither did Beno? I never got that one.
Anyway last night for what it's worth people seemed to get along. Maybe passing the ball makes others happy?

Speaking of the trade, Cole looked surprisingly serviceable. Dude looked like a complete scrub in the few minutes I saw him play on other teams but he looked fine for a 4th big type last night. He set awesome picks, only took shots within the offense, and he was making the right decisions for the most part on defense.

Cole is a role player, he'll need time to look like anything remotely serviceable, just like any other role player. He is most certainly an NBA level player. If he came out the year before he did, he goes top 5 in the draft, don't forget that. He'll be a solid man and help defensive role player in the NBA. I just hope he gets more time with the Kings.
The corner 3 shooting big in Patterson also makes a major difference too. He's a very good fit and I just really hope he gets to play with Cousins more. He's the best possible compliment for Cousins on this team if they are looking to outscore teams.

I'm not getting too excited yet because there have been a handful of stints the last couple seasons where they seem to share the ball beautifully, only to revert back to their old ways shortly after for some strange, frustrating reason. I need to see this over the majority of a season before I get excited.

Re: Ever since the trade...
We look better with Ppatt and Cole because they are Role players, who play their role, take the open shots, set screens and play D. Thats all they need to do.
Same goes for TD, the dude will take the open three if it's there, play D and just give the ball to Tyreke which is all thats needed.
We have our "star" players Tyreke and DMC, everyone else needs to just play their role, and that includes IT, if that starts happening this team starts to sniff .500. Until then they remain in the doldrums when you've got people like James Johnson and MT looking to shoot everytime they touch the ball.

Re: Ever since the trade...
I agree with everything you guys have said. As for the offensive rhythm this Kings team has found, well, it's nothing short of a surprise. Not a surprise that we haven't seen it before...because it's the same kind of unselfish, sharing the ball, finding the next-open-guy offense that made the Glory Years Kings so special. Those teams had its stars and multitude of role players. It's just a surprise for the rest of the league to see us play like this. And now, we're starting to assemble some good pieces that resemble players of past:
* Marcus Thornton/Toney Douglas - cagey offensive/defensive players much like Bobby Jackson/Tony Delk/Vernon Maxwell, capable of coming off the bench, providing glue-tight defense, running the O, and scoring from beyond the arc.
* Cole Aldrich/Chuck Hayes - the garbage guys...guys who know their roles...taking out that trash, doing the little things like blocking out, setting picks, providing help defense, playing goalie...reminiscent of former bench mob guys, Scot Pollard/Lawrence Funderburke.
* Patrick Patterson - a PF that does something that we've never had in Sac...play that unique stretch 4, hitting from the corner 3 and opening up lanes for guys like Reke. Now, you may disagree with me on this, but the closest thing we've ever had to this was when SF 6' 10" Peja would fill-in for CWebb when he was out and played the 4. I remember games like when we played the Lakers and Horace Grant was frustrated having to leave the paint and come out to guard Peja's corner 3s. It opened so much other offense like numerous back-door cut baskets. I think it's only a matter of time until we see PPat as a starter and becoming the best compliment to Cuz and Reke's offense. JT will be better served coming off the bench as a truer backup to either the 4 or 5. Ya know, I can only imagine if we had gotten Ryan Anderson...oh well, this is honestly the next best thing.
This Maloofs-owned team has been in cost saving mode, not making any big splash in these past few years, cutting the Monarchs and familiar faces like Jim Kozimor, relying on minimal success with guys on rookie contracts...and now, things are starting to look up because our Kings team is starting to get it. We just need to learn how to play consistently and not just up to our opponent's ability. I think back to that recent Miami Heat game where we took the defending champs to a Double OT loss, but showed that we can play with anyone in this league. Only good things lie ahead sans losing our team to Seattle...because our team gets it now.
Anyway, sorry for the long post...back to work for me.

But they seemed to like each other. This is a 1st. I don't know if it's everyone against DeMarcus or if people finally accepted their roles but in general they seem to like each other.

Re: Ever since the trade...
The thing I like about Patterson, Douglas, and Aldrich is that they don't force shots, especially Patterson.
I knew Patterson would make an impact on this team but didn't expect if from the other two. Douglas defense has been great and Aldrich is a serviceable big guy...

I'll eat some crow, I was pretty pissed when we traded T-Rob but....our team is better without him. Toney Douglas and Patterson make us a better team, since they are great role players instead of trying to live up to a #5 pick.

Yeah we were all pretty mad about giving up on TRob so early but the Maloofs greed has actually helped the team.

Re: Ever since the trade...
i still don't like the t-rob trade because young bigs rarely meet their potentials in their first years or even second or third years, and we could have gotten patterson/douglas/aldrich (or a comparable package) for much cheaper than t-rob. tons of guys like zach randolph, jermaine oneal, etc. took a long time to get good. even rookies in general...kd was a 40% volume shooter his rookie year and look at him now. you don't just give up high picks this early. i still stand by the opinion that in the long run, it was a bad move, even if in the short run it's proving to be a "good" move (we're still not making the playoffs and just hurting our chances at the #1 pick, so the term "good" is relative)
