Don't know if that's good for them though. Don't want to go down like the Patriots did a few years ago.

i see what you're saying, but this isn't a one and done thing...teams will have to beat the heat 4 times, not once. Depending on whether Pop rests his big 3, the streak will most likely end in San Antonio.

Also mopper,

We should also take a look at what happened with the Spurs last season. The Spurs were hot coming into the post-season. They won 10 streak games heading into the playoffs and ended up sweeping their first two opponents in the Jazz and the Clippers. However, during the WCF, their shooting started to slowly fall apart. They weren't just playing a more talented OKC team, they were also missing shots that they would have normally make. I honestly think OKC got lucky in that series because they actually played very bad defense, but got bailed out by the Spurs shooters missing a lot of wide open shots.

You've tried to discredit the win streak after nearly each and every game. We get it. You don't like the Heat and feel the West is a tougher conference (even though the Heat have a better vs West conference record).

Just throwing it out there:

If Bulls team had Kirk and Taj both back and if Rose is back this week, then I can see Bulls beat the Heat on 27th. But there are lot of IFs. I would definitely like to see Healthy Bulls team vs Healthy Heat team face each though. It would be a fun game to watch.

As previously noted, 5 of the 8 teams (prior to Miami) to win 18 or more games in a row ended up winning titles. Di they peak too early? Are we going to say Boston peaked too early because KG got injured? Its silly. Playing good basketball is never a bad thing, and playing good basketball now does not make it more likely that you'll play bad basketball later.

It's obviously never a bad thing to play good basketball, but I feel like the Heat could be out of rhythm once this streak ends. It could lead to playoff games extending longer than they should and making these series more dreadful and a pain for them.

If I was the Heat, I would make more of an attempt to get the 16-0 playoff record than the 33+ regular season win streak record, unless their plan is to do both, lol.

I would say a large part of why Dallas won in 2011 is because they did peak at the right time especially with their shooters. They all were hot, in rhythm, and made shots in the post-season.

How would they all of a sudden become out of rhythm if their streak ended?

Also, what would you tell them as their coach? "Guys were going to lose this game tonight on purpose so we try to go 16-0 in the playoffs?"

I would tell them the same thing I would tell them every night and that is to play hard and give what you got. I just wouldn't want to use the win streak to motivate them because once that streak ends, their motivation could end as well.

Spoelstra hasn't mentioned the win streak to the team even one time. He's been challenging them to get better every game no matter the outcome.

Certainly one of them.

It's disingenuous to claim a team like the '11 Mavericks "peaked at the right time." It's denigrating to the skill involved. More analysis is needed to support such blase appraisal.

You know what explains that much better than "peaking too early"?

The Half Baked Notion.

The peaking at the wrong time doesn't apply to basketball. That same 18-0 patriots team that lost to the giants would have killed the giants in a 7 game series. I don't think the biggest Giant fans could argue that.

The heat might have a let down in the second round and lose a game or two, but they won't get kicked out of the playoffs because they peaked too early. You can regroup after a loss in a 7 game series. You can't in the NFL where you just go home after a loss.

Also that rockets team just wasn't good enough to win a title. If they met a good team in the playoffs playing at their peak, they would have lost. Completely different situation.

Outside of their 22 game win streak they were 33-27 on the year. That would be worse than the 9th seed Warriors that year.

Would it be safe to say "never" to the question in the OP?

Do you realize that proves the point of the poster you quoted? Take away 22 wins and they're still six games over .500?

Looking back, I'm actually not sure what his point was. His post was pretty lulzy as well.

I think the biggest point was that the West was incredibly competitive that year. Lakers were the first seed and only won 57 games, 8th seed Denver won 50 games and the 48 win Warriors (enough to get into the playoffs 90% of the time) were 9th seed.

I edited the poll with the the new teams coming up, but is there any way to reset the poll? All the votes carried across.

Just a question, if Miami were the round out the season on this streak, would that streak be included into the playoffs, or would it be on hold for the next regular season. Is the streak based strictly one regular season wins, or if this were to happen they'd split the streaks into two different ones.

streak would continue into the playoffs
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington
