Blake is having a tough time at the free throw line

A little saddened that the Clippers are down to 8th in Drtg now, defense hasn't been as crisp in the past few weeks. Time to close out the game though.

HARD FEELINGS: Knicks forward Kenyon Martin played for the Clippers last season, but it’s clear the breakup between the two sides was a bit messy and Martin still holds some bitterness.

When asked about the Clippers, Martin quickly snapped: "I don’t care what they do, to be honest with you. I hope they lose every game."

After a few more game-related questions, the topic of the Clippers’ fast breaking and dunking style arose, and Martin said, “They can’t do it in the playoffs, so it doesn’t matter. Regular season, it’s all up-and-down. We know how the game goes in the regular season.”

Finally, I asked him why there was bad blood between him and the Clippers and he simply said, "Next question."

Kenyon is still holding on to that? Can't really say I'm surprised, though a little disappointed.

Btw, Knicks were still 12/26 from behind the 3PT line in yesterday's game :(. 3PT defense needs a lot of work

Btw, from March 9th

The Clippers rank 25th in the NBA in defending the 3-point shot with opponents making 37.2 percent from beyond the arc. In the Clippers' 20 losses this season, opponents have made 46.7 percent of their 3-point attempts; in their past seven losses, teams are hitting a staggering 49.3 percent.

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/cli ... nt-defense

It's going to be hard to even beat the 6th ranked Golden State if you defend the 3PT line like that. How can you expect to win games with opponents shooting almost 50% from 3?

The Clippers can defend. On the season, the Clippers have given up 100.2 points per 100 possessions, eighth best in the NBA. They have defended the pick-and-roll well (both the ball handler and roller, top five in the NBA according to Synergy Sports) by mixing up coverages.

But in the last five games that is up to 107.3 points per 100 possessions, 27th in the NBA during that stretch. In those games teams are shooting 47.8 percent overall and a very good 39.5 percent from three. Go back 10 games and the Clippers are giving up 104.3 points per 100 (20th in the league).
so the team is defending well in certain situations, and a very important one, the pick and roll. Has the effort dropped off that much, or have teams figured out the holes in the defense, and the Clips haven't adjusted? Or maybe a bit of both, I think that might be it

I'm happy that we won yesterday, my guess is that there won't be much of an answer to our 3 point defense this season.

That's my thought to, and sadly, that likely means no chance of getting to the finals this season

That dunk was nice! I want to see Grant Hill shut it down again, lol

That's actually true, if the Clips remain 3rd, it means the Golden State match up will be going to 6 games at the least with the inability to guard the 3PT shot. If they drop to 4th and it's Memphis in 3rd, the Denver match up won't be fun either even though they aren't great at 3PT shooting, they match up in athletic ability, and Karl is more likely to make better game changing adjustments than Vinny.

Going on the Clippers staying at 3rd, I'd assume OKC in the 2nd round, who winning against is possible, but they are also a very good 3PT shooting team, just not as good of a defensive team as SA. The advantage the Clippers had over OKC was being the better defense, but that is gone now until proven otherwise. Without the better defense, there's not much chance of beating them. Beating both OKC and SA with this kind of defense is just out of the question. So 2nd round exit is a huge possibility.
