I bet Thabeet is worth a 1st in this draft now after a decent season with OKC

Even the immortal Jonny Flynn was worth Chandler Parsons and a 1st before the rockets were able to trade for CP later the same day. Confusing draft Day shenanigans that basically means the Rockets got Flynn for a first and the right to pay the Wolves 3 million to keep their own 2nd round pick.

I would take Oladipo over Smart or Noel. Defensively he’s a game changer, just a disruptive force on the ball. Offensively he’s not a finished product but I think he will improve. His shot is not that bad. He’s extremely athletic and plays with high intensity – the proverbial “motor” that so many players lack. (Tobias Harris has it). I really think five years from now, if Oladipo goes 6 or 7, people are going to look back on this draft and wonder what the teams at the top were thinking by passing on him. I think he will be one of the two or three “hits” from the top 10, and I don’t care where you take him.

Yes. That's why you technically have conjoined trades. It officially becomes TPE for Boozer; and a unrelated, but required-connected trade of Orlando's 1st this year for Teague and Chicago's 1st next year. This is how these trades become official, and thus, allowed.

I really see Smart as this year's Hasheem Thabeet/Michael Beasley/Adam Morrison/Darko Milicic/Kwame Brown/Stromile Swift/Michael Olowokandi: A career 6th man forced to start given a high selection.
In my opinion, Marcus Smart's game does not translate to "Starting NBA PG". Maybe he could be an OK SG, but I see his game as best suited to be a 20 mpg guy off of the bench.
TRADE DOWN or bust.
I would much rather Orlando selects Victor Oladipo AND Michael Carter-Williams (trade with Phoenix) than any one player named in the top 5.
This draft looks to be 2000-bad:
WIKI:2000 NBA draft
..
i feel the same about Oladipo. no handles, barely average offensively, mainly a jump shooter.

This is exactly my point. Orlando could trade a "Smart-type" pick for two lower picks where the Magic could draft a Oladipo-type AND get Burke-or-Carter-Williams-or-Olynyk. How on Earth is Smart better than Oladipo-AND-Burke???
Trade down for multiple 1st !!!

not against trading down, but there usually has to be a player or players up top that other teams are willing to give up the picks to get. I dont really see those players in this years draft. it takes 2 teams to move down.

Yeah, if we're so desperate to move down, what makes another team in a similar situation desperate to move up?

It would have to be a team with some decisions to make regarding extensions this summer that would need some cheap bodies with upside. Think of Philly. Jrue's extension kicks in next year and they hope to resign Bynum. They might be willing to make a move like trading next year's pick to add some help immediately before they are forced to make a decision on Turner.

Well, i agree its hard to get 2 lottery picks, but it doesnt need to be 2 picks, it could be 1 pick and a young player, right? We got only 1 pick for D12 (Moe... now, but some picks in the future), but also got a young in Vucevic, or even when we traded JJ we didnt get a pick, we got another young in Tobias.
We have a GM/scouts that have good eyes for talent and it doesnt need to be a rookie (Moe or AN), but also a young player drafted one or two drafts ago (Vucevic or Tobias).

Every heard of (3) team trades?
Also, I think the Magic could even Package BBD and Afflalo for a lottery pick and a young player also. Who knows.

I feel like Smart needs to lose weight. 225 at his height? he's already heavier than both Mclemore and Noel (!)

He is okay right now, but he is only 19, So i worry what happens in a year or two when he starts pushing 235ish...he is gonna be really slow when he gains that inevidible 10-15 pounds.
A smart coach once said, "Potential just means you're not good enough yet." Playing on potential is like living on air: It's essential, but if thats all you have, you're eventually going to starve.
