off-season trade idea Det/GS

Post#1 » by coolness » Tue Mar 19, 2013 6:08 am

GS has a huge payroll.
Jefferson and Biedrins cost over $20 million next season to expire and they suck.
Rush and Landry cost $8 million next season if they each pick up their player options. Could happen.

Detroit already has no-value Stuckey and CV making $17 million to expire next season while they suck.
Maybe we should just have a huge expiring payroll next season....
First let Calderon/Bynum/Maggette/Maxiell walk into free agency.
Then keep Stuckey and CV.
Then trade for the GSW cast-offs.

English
Middleton
Jerebko
Kravstov

for

Jefferson
Biedrins
maybe Rush
maybe Landry
and definitely something else.....maybe even future picks.

We could add 2nd's/cash or they could....BUT clearly they would owe us something of value when you get past the current players mentioned. Could we get Klay? Barnes? Doubtful. The rights to their 1st this year if they go in the lotto? Maybe. (sorry if they don't have their own 1st). Future picks. Maybe 2 1st's??? Excellent chance there.

Then Detroit goes into next season with the idea of getting chemistry with their young guys.
Knight/Monroe/Drummond/1st2013 would get experience and chemistry. I guess Singler too.
Then Monroe gets a big payday the following summer but there is still cap space after accomplishing that.
FA's would want to come.

Maybe this summer is the time to spend short-term so that we can be better long-term.

We might even nab a top-8 pick in 2014, denying Charlotte while we fatten up in the lotto one last time.
NOT SAYING I WOULD WANT THE NEXT SEASON TO TURN OUT THAT BAD. JUST A POSSIBLE SILVER LINING.

GSW wouldn't become a worse team in the short-term. Just save a ton of $$$ while remaining competitive.
We CAN'T become a worse team and it might be hard to improve this summer thru normal spending, so yea.

Imagine maxing out Moose in 2014 and even if there is another lotto pick for us, we would still have $20 million in cap space to look around with.

Thoughts??? Effusive praises???

I understand what you are thinking, but if we do this I think we will loose Moose. He is unhappy with the loosing that has happened in the past two years. If we do this I feel he will bolt as soon as he can. To a young player, it would look like we wasted his first three years and that the fourth would be rough as well with all of those rookies. Not to mention the damage caused to the fan base by tanking another year would be very hard to recover from.

Why would GS even consider this? Landry/Rush are two solid role players. Middleton/English/Slava are unproven rookies and JJ peaked his rookie year.

*********** IMPORTANT!!!1!11! REVISED!!!1!1111 *********************

1. Amnesty Chuckles.
2. Include Stuckey in the trade. (he could replace Jarrett Jack??? kinda???)
3. get GSW's pick. 19th????

then we buy out each of those 4 incoming Warriors. Or the Warriors can keep Rush and/or Landry too.

We won't have expiring vets who are there to expire.

We will have a bit of capspace tho.

We also try trading all our coming 2nd rounders for the 18th or 20th pick or whatever. <<----trademark

roster next season....

Knight
Singler
Monroe
Drummond
6th pick (Oladipo)
19th pick (some pg)
20th pick (a bpa type)
sign Josh Smith
5-7 more roster spots for small deals. hopefully Chauncey and Big Ben in there.
won't be in lux tax land after Moose's extension. (bcuz buying out R.Jeff and A.Bied at least....)

so that team would neither suck nor be boring nor have a sabotaged future.
we would be ready to make the playoffs and scare teams as a young bunch. BAM!

Golden State owes their first round pick to Utah this year. You are wasting your time with this. If we are taking on BOTH Biendrins and Jefferson, I'd WANT both Thompson and Barnes back. This that wont happen i'll let this terrible idea be locked.

This trade doesn't help us...at all. No thanks.
