Wait, Knight didn't play PG in college?..I don't watch college basketball so I'm clueless right now...

Knight's always been a PG from what I can gather....was definitely Kentucky's PG while there.

I think Stuckey's wanted out for a while now.....we're just the only crazy team that was willing to give him that large of a contract.

I'll repeat, Dumars hasn't been good here since the 2003/04 season.

Stuckey can play. He just doesn't want to play here. It looks as if he has checked out a long time ago(may be after the first few games he was made the 6th man?).

EDIT: He did say that he wanted a "fresh start"(wanting to get out of here because he didnt get the money he wanted) before the start of that season.

I agree with that. I think the funniest part will be that Joe Dumars won't exercise the buy out on Stuckey. I hope Gores cleans house. This team sucks.

I'm more optimistic than I have been in awhile. We've got TWO YOUNG BIGS THAT CAN PLAY! They obviously need experience playing together, but that is huge. The rest of the team, we can trash them and start over, and we really can with our cap space and high draft pick coming. We need 3 more starters and a bench. Knight may have to be one of those starters. Our draft pick is likely to be another. And then our cap space needs to bring us the last one. That should be 5 quality starters. And I think with a little bit of cap space, we should be able to get quality team role players to fill the rest of the rotation.

We just need to tank and get a starter in the draft, and then get another starter and bench via free agency. It is playoffs next year for sure.

i think coaches get too much heat when a team is playing badly.

No one could have predicted how badly stuckey was going to play this year. He should have been a nice fit next to knight, but he's struggled all season. He even sucked as a lead guard off the bench. I think he's bad play was key to the lack of success this season, but how much can we blame frank for that?
Also having 5 rookies is very hard to manage.
Singler, english, Middleton and Slava are all 2nd round picks, so they can't expected to produce right away and drummond needed to time to develop too. I agreed with easing Drummond into more minutes.

It's been a very tough time as a fan for the last few years but the team was coming off one of the most successful times in it's history.
With Monroe, Drummond and Knight we now have some high potential guys that could very well lead us to being an actual contender instead of just a run of the mill team (bucks etc) I think patience is key here.

THANK YOU! Everyone just expects Knight/Monroe/Drummond to be superstars right now and get mad because they're not already. I really like the core of Knight, Monroe, Drummond and even Singler. Just got to add a few players who work well with these players and we will be solid. A team doesn't suck when it's best players are 19, 21 and 22 years old.

On Joe D's ability, I'm not giving Joe D alot of credit here. I give Larry Brown all the credit. They made back to back finals with him as coach. Nobody wanted Billups when we signed him. Ben Wallace was a salary dump in the G-Hill deal. Jordan made a terrible trade with the Rip/Stack move. Tay sat way too long behind Curry and Tay is the reason we drafted Darko over Melo. I laugh every time I hear that. Wallace cost two first round picks which helped but he wanted out of ATL (One of which was Josh Smith, FYI). He also make huge errors with Rodney White, Mateen over Mo-Pete, Maxiell, Darko, and so on and so forth. He gave up guys way too early (Affalo) and not soon enough (Amir). He's made terrible signnings in BG and CV with even worse extensions in Prince, Stuckey, and so on. He has been riding 2004 way too long. It's time to go. I won't give him credit for Knight, Monroe, and Drummond. Stupid GM mistakes made ahead of them. I'm still shocked Thomas Robinson got drafted above Drummond. Joe D should be fired.

Frank has been awful too. I don't blame him as much but he doesn't play the young guys enough. I really want to see if Slava, Middleton, or English have game. Having them has towel boys for the first half the season made no sense. If they weren't going to play, they shoulda been in the d-league. Frank has been overmatched. Bad schemes. I don't want a young hot assistant. I want a good established coached. I want Nate McMillan. I'd fire Frank for him today. He'll i'll give him a ride from Metro to the Palace on my dime.

As ive said before, they need to figure out what they view Knight as & keep him there whether thats at the 1 or 2.

I hear you on all the mistakes but you could make a list of mistakes that long with most GM's, its not an easy job.

I also disagree that LF has been horrible, yeah id liked to have seen the young guys more but I like the moves LF has made for the most part personally.

ok, gotcha. That could be interpreted a million different ways so clearly not what that other poster claimed it was.

Common sense says it was nothing because Joe resigned him.

tons of reason for optimism, we need to stay on the right track with the coaching on Drummond, grab another stud in the draft & make smart decisions in FA.

The Pistons really are a really good wing away from being a playoff team again w/ everyone healthy.
