"On the road trip, (for us to) give up 112 points per game and for teams to shoot 55%, for us to take only two charges and not be able to do anything in the paint -- those are the type of things that are disappointing to you. I said it to these guys that from a big-picture standpoint, the thing that I think we have to restore is pride in being a Piston.
Although I don't care for his in-game head coaching, I think he gets the big-picture stuff right most of the time. I agree with him here. We need to get back to playing Detroit Pistons basketball with tough-minded two-way players. We need to restore what it means to be a Detroit Piston.
Unfortunately, that won't happen this year. But that will be key in us having a successful offseason. Dumars and Frank (if he's not fired) need to get on the same page and get guys who fit the characteristics of players who have "Pistons DNA."
I worry that Dumars has forgotten that defense is also a part of the game. His past four (4) non-draft acquisitions have all been 1-dimensional offense only players:
BG - signed as FA
CV - signed as FA
Maggette - traded for
Calderon - traded for
