Yes. Assuming we're picking 6-7-8 range. I think he goes in the top three though. For one thing, I think Cleveland loving Porter is a smokescreen and they want Noel.

Personally, I think Noel will be a bust. But, I would definitely take a chance after the 5th pick in the draft.

If we're picking 6-10 we need to trade the pick for young proven talent(Eric Gordon)...This draft is too weak!..The only 3 players the Pistons should look to draft are McLemore, Muhammad, and maybe Olipido(maybe)...Noel=bust...

It seems like people here every year say "this draft is weak." Has anyone else noticed this, or am I off on this one?

I've noticed this as well.
I wouldn't take a bench player in the lottery. We aren't position to have a luxury pick. We need starters at the wing positions. Porter, Bazz or McLemore. One of those guys.

Noel is a game changer. Very athletic as well, and far quicker than most bigmen. With that said, I still want McLemore over him. I'd consider taking Porter/Bazz before him...would have to think about that one.

You trade him at that point and KL has said as much. Lamb + TOR pick would do it for me.

Noel is going to be the best player from this draft, imo. Very unfortunate what happened. I wouldn't take a chance on him now if we are picking top 5. But maybe in the 7-9 range.
As great as he looked before, there's no way of knowing if he will ever be that great again. We cant afford that risk, unless we end up picking so low there's literally no one else good available.
I don't think that will be the case. I think we are getting a top 5 pick. But Noel would be so perfect paired with Drummond, defensively.

Trade. Yep.
And, that would be a fantastic deal to make as well.

Offensively it would be a nightmare though. There would be literally no spacing inside.

Depends who else is around them. If you put 3 great shooter on the perimeter, you can play perfect inside-out bball. Assuming both Drummond/Noel developed consistent low post games.
Besides, the impact defensively would so great it would make up for any shortcomings on offense. Plus its not like Drummond is a non-scorer like Big Ben. He will still be impactful on offense inside even with no low post games just off hs size and lob ability.
I'm really thinking our best plan of action is building the best defense around Drummond. I think you should build to you best players strength. If you have a great offensive player, build a great offense around him. If you have agreat defensive player, build the best defense, like we did withy Big Ben, like the Ravens did with Ray Lewis, etc. I think Drummonds going be that caliber of defensive player

One thing people don't know about Boel is that he has poor hands.

Noel does not have bad hands. I don't know what makes you think that. He has poor touch but he has great hands. I watched every game of his at UK and several of his high school games. He's a defensive game changer. Him and Drummond would be the best defensive front line in the league.

Thats what I'm thinking. IF he checked out medically, it would be tough to pass on him. But he'd have to be 100%. I'm not sure if he will be fully healed by the draft though.

Honestly I'd rather spend some of our cap on Earl Clark... he can defend and his offensive game is more polished... with good range... he would be a nice compliment.

Clark wont be paid more than 8M a year no way and he is definitely worth it that price bc I feel that Milsap and Hickson will command closer to 10M a year. If I had a choice however id overpay Milsap then Clark then Hickson in that order.
We need to get one of those three players and J.Smith.
We need to stay far away from another Ben Gordon / Charlie V no defense schmucks like Mayo / Monta / Jennings.
Dumars should be able to grab Tyreke Evans + Clark on solid deals and that will immensely help us going in the future. If he overpays anyone besides Smith we are screwed, we simply cant afford it.

Pretty sure Khan said the same thing about Wes Johnson over Cousins and Monroe. I also think I remember this being one of the reasons we got Drummond.
Bottom line is you have to be bad in a lot of areas to draft top 5. You put your board together based upon how you grade the players regardless of position. I don't ever remember a successful team saying "we just have too many big guys".

^^ Right on, Bad teams need to go w/ the BPA and let the fit work itself out, when it comes to big men its even more obvious to do so because they are much easier to move. 5 years from now 2 or 3 players may be left on this team anyways.
