A simple Google Search will tell you that there is no timetable for his return.

Hopefully preseason in october ,we need to keep losing .Some of these dirt bag teams around us are professional tankers and don't know the meaning of the word quit, when it comes to tanking.

Not sure if this was posted.... from the Det News:

"Andre Drummond will be evaluated before Friday's game against the Miami Heat, and a return could be on the horizon as he recovers from his back injury.

"What I'll do is talk with Arnie (Kander) and see what he can do," Frank said. "If a guy's healthy you want him to play. Especially a young guy. If he's not healthy you don't do that. We're paid to play. If Andre's healthy enough, he'll be on the court."

There are some who feel the Pistons should keep Drummond on the shelf for the rest of the season, but he's attacked his rehab and the Pistons would love to see how he pairs with Greg Monroe and Jose Calderon, so they won't hold him back. "If the doctors give him the heads up and everybody's comfortable with it, we'd love to get him back on the floor," Frank said.

Great news. Is there a link to this article? I read some similar quotes on Freep, but didn't mention anything about him being evaluated on Friday, and I can't find this article on Detnews.

Not doubting it, just would like to read the article.

^He won't start him right away. He'll need to work up his conditioning. A tired player is more prone to injuries. If he came back for Miami, there would be 13 games remaining. I'd bet Drummond would start the last 7 or so tops. We don't seem to have any dominant opposing center match-ups left on our schedule though, so who knows.

I doubt they'd put him out there against MIA for his first game back. Looking at the upcoming schedule, much wiser to wait until after the MIA game, with easier games against CHA, MIN, and TOR following.

MIA on a 23 game win streak. Pistons on a 9 game losing streak. That game is going to be ugly. No need to subject Drummond to that beating his first game back.

If he's cleared Friday, I'd bet they bring him back for the CHA game, ease him in off the bench. Then if everythings good, start him vs MIN the next game.

They have 2 days off inbetween CHA/MIN, so it would be perfect to get him some practice time with the starters and be fully ready to start next Tuesday vs MIN.

Thats all assuming he's cleared Friday of course.

Good news on Drummond. He went through full practice today and felt great!

Keith Langlois ‏@Keith_Langlois 8h
Andre Drummond went through full practice today. Says he feels great. Still no timetable for return, but he was very upbeat - and sweaty.

Keith Langlois ‏@Keith_Langlois 7h
Andre Drummond after going through full practice Thursday: "If you saw practice, you wouldn't have thought I got hurt."

Keith Langlois ‏@Keith_Langlois 7h
Drummond: "We go day by day. Today we went through the whole practice ... and I felt great. We’ll figure out what we're doing tomorrow."

Andre Drummond ‏@DRE_DRUMMOND_ 7h
Damn it felt great to be back on the floor today! Missed my guys @detroitpistons

Keith Langlois ‏@Keith_Langlois 1h

^Drummond might feel good now, but let's see how he feels tomorrow. Also you don't want to rush back a back issue when the games are meaningless. I say we be VERY conservative with Dre. I think they keep open the possibility he could play again in order to keep him motivated and his head into games. He's missed a month and a half, and had bad cardio before that layoff. It would take him near a month to get back into big minutes shape at this stage.

You never know. He's only 19, and an athletic freak, so its possible he can get back into game shape quickly.

The fact that he went from yesterday being "a long ways away" according to Frank, to feeling great and going through a full practice the next day, tells you how quickly things can change with a young body.

I think if the fracture is fully healed, it may only take a week or so to get his conditioning back.

I was rephrasing what he actually said because I couldn't remember the actual quote, but the meaning is pretty much the same. Frank said "he's not coming back anytime soon" on wednesday. Then on Thurday he goes through full practice and feels great. lol

"There's no update, it's gonna be slow," Frank said. "He's not coming back anytime soon. He's made progress. You gotta think, the doctors restricted us from doing anything. Just from a conditioning standpoint, it's gonna take time."
