Will Chuckles Villanuawesome be amnestied?

Post#1 » by coolness » Fri Mar 22, 2013 6:02 am

Thoughts?

Also, when can people be amnestied???? There is a specific window in the calendar for that, right?

I hope we rid ourselves of both Stuckey and Chuck V. neither one adds much value to the team. Perhaps both guys would benefit from a change of scenery.

It makes more sense to trade him or use his deal in a trade for another salary. It makes more sense that just amnesiting him. It would help prevent us from paying him.

If CV is not going to be part of the rotation, and we are serious about rebuilding, then we should amnesty him. That gives us another 8mil to spend WISELY in free agency. I don't see how this isn't a good move.

The one logical plan where we wouldn't amnesty CV would be if we plan to trade him next year at the trade deadline as an expiring deal. I don't know what kind of offers Dumars will get, but if he is confident that we can trade him for a young asset next year, even one a long term deal, than we might as well hang on to him. This is probably his plan so he can save face just a little - he already had to give away a first rounder on one big free agent (BG), so it would even be more embarassing to have to amnesty your other big free agent. Ugh, what a pair of horrible signings.

As for Stucky, same thing, but on a lesser scale. If he is going to pout, and if he is not part of our rotation going forward, then buy him out. THat gives us another 4mil to spend on someone who will give a **** and be a team player.

It's impossible to say right now. We have to spend at least 90% of the cap next year. He will only be amnestied if we can't trade him and we need his cap space to sign someone else while still hitting that 90% mark. If we amnesty DNP-CV before we have enough players lined up to hit that 90% then it's proof positive that Dumars has no clue what he is doing and should be fired immediately.

I was more than ready to have him off the team a year ago, but he fits pretty decently with Drummond. If they need the space to get a good piece that fits the team, they should amnesty him. If not, keep him around for when cap space (or his expiring) will be more valuable.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

I agree. He seems to work well with Drummond. I have no problem keeping him. It's one year and we really don't have a stretch four and lack of shooters. I'm ok with it.

If he is amnestied, some other team could pay him 1.5 million and then we could sign a d-league pg for the minimum to save money for the team. That is if a d-league pg is a better fit for us, which seems likely.

I get the 90% of the cap issue. So obviously that would play into the decision.

I still wanna know the time frame in which he can be amnestied. It would be cool for the message to get out that CV is amnestied and Willy/JC/Maggs/Maxi are going to walk ASAP. That would help free agents think of the Pistons early and often. Just a nice idea with some practical problems...

i doubt we amnesty him or release stuckey. bur on the other hand look for dumars to trade one of them if not both by the trade deadline for some talent as teams are going to try and gear up for a bid on lebron and other free agents

I doubt it. His percentages aren't great, but he is having a decent season and is a large expiring contract.

You will here he is amnestied about an hr before you here about a FA who is signed. Hypotheticly CV amnesty and josh Smith signing happen on the same day. Only way to justify paying Smith 16 mil is with CVs 8 mil offsetting half of it.

I think that he will be amnestied, he really isn't part of the future plans and he hasn't worked out like they were hoping. I don't think anyone would want to take his contract on as an expiring anyways because it's such a large amount. I would be fine with him being amnestied and then just trading Stuckey actually.
