Its obvious that Kobe is the second reincarnation of our lord and savior Jesus christ.
We are not worthy to be in his presence

You can't have it both ways. If you want to credit Kobe for being better when he had Gasol and Bynum and the Suns had Stoudemire and Robin Lopez, then you can't turn around and say that Kobe was still better when Nash won because the Lakers had a weaker team. Besides, Nash and the Suns beat the Lakers that one year where Stoudemire was injured. How Nash ever got that team to the WCF, I'll never understand. That team had a starting lineup of Boris Diaw at Center, Shawn Marion at PF, Tim Thomas at SF, Raja Bell at SG and Nash. Some good players in there, sure, but any Hall Of Famers besides Nash?

Uh.... no.

Believe me, watch clips on Youtube of those games and it will bring back painful memories. Lakers had them down 3-1 in 2005-2006. What Nash did in that series was some of the most ridiculous playoff stuff I have ever seen by anyone. I remember them winning that Game 6 at Staples and it seemed like he either scored or assisted on every freaking play when he was on the floor. Phil was just beside himself. Lakers could not stop it. Then there was the Game 7 back in Phoenix where Kobe was going off but we were still down by like 20 at halftime, and in the second half Kobe took almost no shots. Then he was accused of "quitting" by some people but like he said, he was scoring like crazy in the first half and they were still getting whipped, so he had to try something else.

Phil Jackson as a coach is the biggest difference anyway. Nash was trying to win under Don Nelson, Mike D'antoni and Alvin Gentry. All coaches who have never won a championship whether they had Nash as a PG or anybody else. Anybody who thinks Nash wouldn't have had a ring under Gregg Poppovich or Phil Jackson is just not watching the same game the rest of us are.

But this conversation is bizarre. Any Laker fan knows that Nash's Suns were probably Kobe's most bitter rival. He hated those teams and we all know why. Nash never quite got a "ring" but we all know he could have had a couple with just a few different bounces. And we want him to get one now and he is now a Laker. Pitting two guys on our team against each other is crazy. D'antoni also. Guy had some very hard breaks along with Nash but if he can get this team over the hump, we're all happy.

Nash has said for years that Kobe is the best player in the game and we all know damn well he could have gone and joined up with the NBA's "poster boy" LeBron, but he stuck with the West Coast hoops. He stayed with the "old school" and I don't know if they will get there this year, but they are going to have a shot. We all know that Kobe regards Nash as one of the greatest Point Guards not just of the last ten years but to ever play the game. These guys are a joy to watch and there is a story building here that I think could be the best Laker story of Kobe's career if they manage to get a championship.

I'm glad Nash is on this team but considering the context of this forum this thread would be the equivalent of a Van Exel or Magic thread in the 90's.
