There's no question that McHale had a lot of say in the decision to draft Royce White. Fred Hoiberg played for McHale and worked for him as an assistant GM. Kevin McHale and Royce White were born in Minnesota and they both went to college there (White transferred). Royce also had a great basketball story coming out of that draft.
Unfortunately, this whole thing has gotten way blown out of proportion. The guy basically quits on the team and uses his psychologic disorder as an excuse. Everyone even the media seems to be bending over his way.
