If Miami break streak record + win title, where do they rank

Post#343 » by litex » Sat Mar 23, 2013 2:11 am

If Miami successfully break the win streak record, and go on to win the championship, where would this year rank historically among the all time great seasons?

Why would we talk about this until it has been achieved and/or broken.

Really?

I'd venture to say at least half of the topics on this forum are discussions of hypothetical situations and what-ifs....

I'm a huge Laker fan, but I would be entertained to see them beat the 33 record. If they go on to win the championship this year, I will place this year's team as top two along with the 01 Lakers championship team from the last 15 years or so.

GO LAKERS

I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

Do they sweep the playoffs? If so - above the 72-10 Bulls

Is it just breaking the streak record, losing a few regular season games and a few playoff games, and capping it off by winning the title? Than top 2 behind the 72-10 Bulls.

However, if they don't lose another game and sweep the playoffs? I don't see any way you can't rate them the greatest team ever. Would be a 39 game regular season winning streak + 16 game playoff sweep. 45 straight victories would be ridiculous. I don't see it happening, but no one saw this March Madness happening either,

Since we're doing hypotheticals, let's suppose they also sweep the playoffs. In which case, you'd have to rank them as the greatest team in NBA history.

What if they don't any games at all next year, but lose their first two games in the first round--will this season have been better than that season?

LeBron and Wade go up in all time rankings, I'd say number #2 behind the 96 Bulls
Bucks tricked me into being a diehard in 2001, LeBron is the 2nd best player ever, and pizza is awesome.

They're already among the greatest teams to have ever played assuming they win a title. Obviously they don't have to break the 33-game streak to earn that title. 25 in a row speaks for itself.

No hate.

Just there is already a board about the streak.
And they are not even close to the streak + playoffs yet. Still a lot of basketball to be played.

Playoffs >>> Regular Season

No real way to guess where they'll rank yet.

This guy's annoying. Hypothesizing, estimating potential, and envisioning scenarios is a huge part of sports.

The Raptors would still have a couple teams ranked above them.

There have been alot of great teams in the past 50+ years.

They'd really need to dominate the playoffs if they were to crack the top 10.

The fact that they've struggled to beat some mediocre teams during this streak would make it abit less impressive.
