But Teague doesn't have any standout skills to get by in this league if he can't shoot. He doesn't pass like Rondo. He doesn't defend like a young Hinrich, etc.

marquis teague can jump really high. 8-)

EDIT ADD; maybe if he'd stayed his no-shooting, no-playmaking ass at KU they wouldn't have lost in the 1st round of the NIT.

I'm not high on Teague, but I admit his frame is decent, and he has naturally damn near elite quickness and handles. His shot is one of the worst I've ever seen though. Everything about it is foul. It looks like the shot of a 14 year old scrub. I'm genuinely a much better shooter.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if Teague turns it around and becomes a player. Until then or his contact comes up, I'm not penciling him in for anything better than a 3rd PG.

More or less agree.

I've always been boggled by how many people use a "Rose at SG" mentality. That makes no sense for me. Especially not for someone like Marquis Teague who's a very spotty player. Your evaluation is fairly spot on, he's got some really awesome NBA skills in terms of his quickness which gives him a high ceiling, but his shooting is awful as is his finishing around the rim. Until he learns how to use that quickness to score it's somewhat meaningless since you can always play him to drive and then as long as you context his shot, his finishing rate is low.

Hopefully Teague has a strong off-season, but I'm not encouraged about him ever improving his shot too much because his mechanics aren't very good.

A couple of things here. Teams go small all the time right? Also people on this ball want a 2nd ball handler right? What does it matter if we go small for 8-10 or having a SG or SF to handle the ball.

One benefit I see allowing Rose playing off the ball a little is that allows him to get to a area he can score, without being doubled/tripled team, etc. You can not have two guys on Rose if he doesn't have the ball. It's just another wrinkle to in the system.

I am one that does not think Rose should be a SG, but I don't see a negative in going small sometimes and when we do have a penetrating, solid ball handler next to him. Teague is not that player yet, but if he turns into Jeff, I think 8-10 minutes of a Rose/Teague combo could be dangerous. If we have Jeff Teague, would people not want to see Teague/Rose for some stretches, putting pressure on the defense? I would.

To be a good team, IMO you must be able not only to go big but also play small and throw many wrinkles at the opposing team.

Are you guys kidding me? Really Teague, a good defender? Bi@#H Please! Have you watched any of the games closely? He looks lost on defense. He can't stick on his man; gets constantly beat off the dribble. Physically he has no upper body strength, gets over powered off the dribble by other point guards. He has some good offensive moves and a workable shot, but to say he has played well is just bogus. To tell you the truth, the Bulls should have put him on the D-League this year to get more playing time and to build some fundamentals. He has a lot to work on, and in my opinion he is about 2-3 years away from being a solid rotation guy. The biggest stat that I hate is when people start looking at per 48 or per 36 minutes, that is a flawed stat and does not have any significance on how well someone is playing. If he plays against the Pacers, keep an eye on his defense.

Get rid of him! At the ripe old age of 20, he's clearly reached his ceiling.

Now tell me what stud the Bulls should have drafted over him.

I am not saying Bulls should not have drafted him. I like the pick and I think he can be a good rotation guy. But to say he has had a good rookie season is what I have a problem with and the fact that people keep saying he is good on defense. He needs more work but it was a good pick.

Maybe Rose is the perfect mentor for him? He has the speed, he's not really that undersized at all. He has shown that he has decent vision. A lot of room to improve. He just needs more confidence. I can see him being a great back up for Rose.

If we can somehow develop him as well as we've developed Jimmy Butler, I see him having a place right here. But as a lot of people have mentioned before, he has got to stop being a p*ssy.

You'll get a +1 suspension and later a +1 ban if you don't stop bumping threads right freaking now.
