Cousins is talented, but so are Wall, George and Monroe. When in doubt choose the talented player who doesn't also happen to be a nutcase. Who in their right mind would pick Cousins given his history of behavior problems right now, it isn't like he's so talented that he makes Wall or George look bad.

It's hard to take your opinion of a players quality seriously when you have your nickname and avatar Micheal Beasley.
TheChosen618 wrote:My issue with Wall is his durability. He gets hurt very often. I remember he was flat out beasting in his first regular season games, but then he got hurt. I thought the Wizards would be in playoff contention this season, but Wall missed the first several months of the season due to a foot injury.
Agreed. His injury problems have been many and consistent. For such a young player, that's incredibly worrisome. I have the same concern for Kyrie Irving.

Attitude man, attitude. You can't count on Cousins night in and night out, and a lot of that has to do with how unpredictable his attitude is. Until he gets his maturity under control, he's always going to have that hanging over him and bringing down peoples opinion of him. If we're talking pure and raw talent, Cousins is probably the best player in the draft, but he can't keep his head in games or his temper in check. Until he does that, he'll never be able to constantly put up the numbers he's capable of and he's going to continue to be ranked lower than his talent would suggest.

Re: Would you still pick John Wall as #1 draft pick?
Yes, i would still pick Wall.
Hindsight is a great thing, but Wall has the most potential out of his rookie class.
Will he live up to it? Who knows, he is making strides though.
He is putting up 20 & 8 in March and the Wizards have a winning record since he has been back.
His basic numbers may not be there just yet, but his TS and eFG is at a career high at the moment, and he started slowly in his first few games as well.

therealbig3 wrote:And I'm a little confused over the Wall craze recently. He was pretty bad his first couple of years in the league, and he was injured for a huge part of this season. He came back and is finally playing really well, no doubt...but why can't this just be a hot streak over a small sample size? He's still a poor shooter, and although he is extremely athletic and can get to the rim easily...Rose and Westbrook were similar athletic specimens that still needed to develop a jump shot once the league caught up and gameplanned for them.
Based on what we actually know so far...Wall has had a 7 game hot streak (against some pretty crappy competition)...George last year had a better year than either of Wall's first 2 seasons, and he's had an All-Star season this year. He's proven way more than Wall already, and imo, his potential is similar, considering his shooting, defense, rebounding, and athletic ability. At 22, he's already an elite defender and shooter. That raises his ceiling by quite a bit, because all he has to do now is add some diversity to his offensive game, maybe become a little more of a ball handler/facilitator, and you've potentially got the next Scottie Pippen.
It's because your seeing the kind of player Wall can be if he ever reaches his potential. Game changer on both ends. In 12 games in March he's averaged 20.3 ppg 8.3 assists on over 50% shooting. His defense is already above average and he's lead the Wizards to a 19-15 record since his return. Is this play sustainable? Who knows but if it is, he's clearly the best player in the draft. That's the gamble you take, if you take Wall at 1.

This, I've been supporting Wall since he was drafted, he's finally showing his potential to be an elite PG.

If you're a team that's bad enough to be drafting #1, you take Wall over George.

Oh yeah? That must explain why George was an All-Star this season, and Wall wasn't.

Re: Would you still pick John Wall as #1 draft pick?
If Wall's development as a floor general catches up to his natural ability as a player- he's without question the #1 pick.
The only thing that would cause me to question drafting him #1 overall is his lack of durability (health) up to this point & the fact that he's already openly stated he wants a MAX contract.

Re: Would you still pick John Wall as #1 draft pick?
Why is everyone killing the guy who said Wall has been better in every season than George? He has clearly been better the first 2 years. This year George has been better but Wall did miss half the year. He came back on the bench and he was basically in training camp mode when everyoen else was in mid season form. I take the way he's playing right now over George and if you even go by the whole year, its not like George is destroying him.
People are talking about the records but Indy should be better and the Wiz have been a playoff team with Wall. I wouldnt be surprised to see the Wiz take a huge jump next year if they get fully healthy. Still havent got to see Wall, Beal, Webster, Nene, & Oak all healthy together with guys like Ariza & Seraphin off the bench. That team would definitely be a playoff team.
I love Wall's new jumper and I think its here to stay. The only problem is that you can tell he's loving it so much that he's starting to drive less which is what I dont want. His cross court passing has been masterful though. Just picking defenses apart.
The fact is Wall just had the much bigger expectations. If you didnt know any better you wouldve sworn that he's been horrible and that George has been much better even the first 2 years but the reality is that Wall wouldve been the ROY if Blake didnt sit out his 1st year and Wall was still putting up numbers in year 2 but just not what everyone felt he should be

Re: Would you still pick John Wall as #1 draft pick?
I'd still pick Wall first for many of the same reasons people have pointed out.
There's seriously people out there who would still pick Cousins over Wall, George, Monroe though? In 3 years he has been inefficient, a malcontent, a bad teammate, and has not played like he has the potential of a superstar. He'd still go top 5, but there's no way any GM would take him over the aforementioned 3.

I'd take George no question. The talent in the NBA is at the 3 spot right now. And he's the best player out of that class.

Other in his draft class has been playing well of late too, such as Greg Monroe and Paul George.
Would you still pick Wall over those or other guys in class?
i take wall over monroe/turner/favors 100 times out of 100
