Went to the gym for the first time since the thumb injury. :-? Started lifting after I weighed myself :( . Lifting was fine, and I had my thumb in a brace and taped, so it was fine. After lifting, I went into the Bball court just to shoot around.

Well I guess I couldn't stay away, and played for about an hour and a half, playing fours, threes and twos, and a few games of twenty-one. It was fun. The first game was fours, and my shot was weak, but oddly, my passing was great. Probably because I had two guys that really cut to the hoop often, and the guy guarding my didn't really seem to be a good player. So not many baskets, but a good amount of boards, and a bunch of assists.

Next few games my shot was so much better, but I couldn't hit my bank shots. :( I think I was 1-12 shooting banked threes, but almost aloof them were in 21 games, so I wasn't screwing any teammates over. But I followed my shot very well, so I grabbed many of those misses.

However, with the brace, I had a tough time getting a good grip on the ball, and I had two just horrible passes that went off the rim. I also didn't play super aggressive on defense, and never reached with my right.

Thumb seems fine, so that's a good sign. Bball didn't hurt anymore than changing diapers.

Ah that's interesting to hear. I played a few games myself last week after dealing with tendinitis in both knees. My left knee still isn't where my right knee is in terms of recovery and it forced me to stop both days I played. I feel so much less explosive and I don't know whether that's from lifting (and subsequently eating a lot), not playing or being able to do any leg work or the tendinitis itself. It's probably a bit of all three but time will tell.

I take it that your jumpshot was the most noticeable thing missing when you returned (which was how I felt too). I think I made one jumpshot the first game as well

I took only two threes the first game, and missed them both. But I only shot four shots before the game and after lifting, but I didn't expect to hit much. Which is probably why I passed so much. But like getting the nice assist over the shot anyway. It helped I had guys that ran well, and could finish.

Sorry to hear about your knees. I know you are young, so it must be rough knowing that without the injuries, your body could do what your brain asks. I'm just a bit to old (and lately, out of shape), for my body to do what it used to. :(

It was still fun, and the guys were cool. You wouldn't guess it from my posts here, but I am very positive to almost everyone on the court, and almost never confrontational. :D I always say, "good boxout", or "good take", if either is done on me.

Hope you recover soon.

One of my mates has been nursing a thumb injury for a week or so now. He tapes it up before he plays. He can shoot fairly well but his passing is a little (very) wonky.

But yeah I always give props on the court because sometimes there is nothing you can do. I'm often at center on defense in pickup ball so it can get a little annoying if the reason you're giving props as a result of your guard is getting blown by  But then again I'm a terrible shot blocker/ rim protector so it goes both ways.

What happened to his thumb? Being forty-two, I don't heal as fast as I used to. :(
I think I give out more props after coaching, than I did when I was young.

He hurt it diving for a loose ball somehow. He plays really scrappy in-your-face defense (sort of like you). It can be pretty frustrating.

Jammed? Sprained? Or dislocated?

I usually get injured because of my hustle, but this one was just a guy throwing the ball super hard at my thumb.

His thumb must have hit the ground and sprained. Is your thumb all swelled up? That must be a pretty nasty jam.

We heard a loud pop, but the ball hit me so hard, it could just have been the sound of the ball hitting my thumb. The second joint from the tip was purple all the wat around, and I couldn't move it without pain for the first two days. It doesn't help we have newborn, and she kept kicking it everytime I changed her.

But I iced a lot, and took ibuprofen twice a day. Now it's still sore, but clearly not broken. Limited mobility, but better than when I dislocated my pinkie a few years ago. It's hard to open things, shift in the car, and doing simple stuff I never thought would require a fully functioning thumb.

Damn it feels good to have the jumpshot back! One of those days where you feel you cant miss no matter what crazy shots you take.

Nice! I knew it would just be a matter of time to get the shot back. Love those days, when I'm playing twenty-one. My banked three seems to be coming back off the thumb injury, but my left knee started to feel a little pain when I push off. :( I have been lifting lately before I shoot, and have been doing more legs because of the thumb. Maybe I've overdone things a bit.

Today I got a pretty nice gash on the corner of my forehead from just grabbing stuff from my bag. I turned around and BAM I hit the bleacher railing. It's all cleaned and patched up using some kind of glue (derma something) now. I'll post a pic if I can find the camera app on my computer.

Edit: Eh, the camera doesn't do it any justice. Would have been better had you seen it before it was treated

I had that same glue treatment done to me while playing basketball. (Ironically)

Went for a chasedown block after someone turned it over in the court court.... And I actually managed to block him from behind, not before his elbow managed to wack me on the crow of my head.

At first I thought it was just a little knock and I kept playing. Wasnt't painful at all. Only until I got back on offence and felt that the side of my face was cold. Looked at my hand and it was covered in blood.

Pretty weird considering the circumstances, but got to the doctors and he glued my head back together all good. The cut itself was pretty small, but with the blood pumping at a high rate, it made it look ALOT worse than it actually was.

Bought some new Bball shoes today. No tax on clothing here in Minny.

Also, after three full months in Minny I finally heard a Replacemets song on the radio.

So played the grand final of my comp on Wednesday night. Missed the game winning three and we lost by 2 points. I still got the game MVP though (18 points). Would've rather the win.

I'd rather have the win as well, but nice to be recognized for the effort.

So I started talking to this chick off a dating site about a week ago. Met her tonight for the first time. Best. Night. Ever. I'm glad my ex was a worthless skank because this chick is so far out of my league it's ridiculous. I never thought I'd be able to get a girl this gorgeous, thank god for decent facial aesthetics and amazing personality.

TL;DR
I've got a new girlfriend
Super hot
**** awesome
