Out of the Bulls/Celtics/Hawks, I would take the Celtics in the first round. I don't think Pierce/KG can survive a 7 game series.

I'd say Hawks then C's then Bulls.

I don't think Horford could get much with a combination of Tyson and Kmart on him and Josh Smith doesn't intimidate me one bit. Teague would be the only worrisome match-up.

The Atlanta trio has more talent than the old Celtics. We should be big favorites against any of those.

I think the C's knowledge of how to win games and play the mental game gives them an edge despite being less talented at this point. The C's also have a lot of depth after the Crawford move and Green getting his health in tact. With Atlanta, you stop the trio and you've won handily...but with the C's, you can stop their old men and then give up three's to Crawford or Lee...or points to Green...or even Bass could kill you inside. Stopping the C's as a whole is more complicated imo.

But yeah, we should be big favorites regardless. None of those teams have looked all that good recently, especially the Hawks imo.

I don't believe in this "mental" myths. Just don't buy it. Celtics are incredibly thin with their bigs. The only big they have coming off the bench is Wilcox. That frontline is not going to hold up in the playoffs. Without Rondo they don't really have a PG either and Bradley/Lee/Crawford/Terry isn't that much of a threat.

It's a close call, but I'd rather face the Celtics. They seem ready to collapse.

crushing the celtics in the first round is poetic justice.

He was 14/6 with the Knicks last season, so those numbers are not inconceivable. I don't think he can get above 14 on the same team with Harden, and the Rockets are likely to get another scorer. 45% seems a little High for him.

If he's hitting that 3 at a higher clip like he has been then his ppg easily goes up over the course of a season GIVEN the same roster as it opens up his best skill - the drive. He's just much more of an overall weapon so he'll get more shots and probably probably plays more minutes because an outside game is less taxing. Ergo more points. But maybe then he takes more shots from the outside (low percentage) which brings down the %s even if he's hitting at a decent clip (better TS%, lower FG%). He could end up a bit above 45% or a bit below.

Hard to get a handle though until I know what the roster is. Who will they acquire (Smith, Howard)? How will Robinson and Parsons develop if they're even around?

I would be willing to throw something like TOs/36 into the mix though :D That's a stat he was much maligned for an that I think will continue to drop for him.

TOs depend on what he's doing. If he's used as a spot-up shooter, TOs will drop. In any case, Harden is a huge help in that department since he's an excellent ball handler and you absolutely need a guy like that next to Lin.

Bottom line is that I think his stats stay similar next season.

Minus November, I think that's where the smart money is for raw stats at this point.

In theory, I would bet on advanced stat improvements for next year (TO%, TS%) but even saying "I would bet on advanced stat improvements" somehow makes me feel like less of a man.

This was really a tough bet since his minutes keep decreasing. Since january his minutes have continued to decrease currently 10% less. Its what made a bet like this tricky but interesting. Good discussion guys

i really don't want to get into the lin debate, but i think they're going to land a big free agent next year. possibly dwight. so i think lin's assists numbers may be better next year but not his ppg. i could be wrong though.

All other things equal, when's the last time a player willingly left the Lakers? Whether true or not, LA is perceived to be paradise for players. Hell, even the Clippers are a destination now.

lakers have almost always been good though. dwight wants to win i think and the rockets give him a better chance.

lin
harden
parsons
robinon
dwight

some good depth too... that's a much better team than anything the lakers can put together.
