I would be sold unless either the team doctor seriously red flags him or unless somebody just completely blows away during the workouts and you think he is a star (like when we went Penny over Webber).
A smart coach once said, "Potential just means you're not good enough yet." Playing on potential is like living on air: It's essential, but if thats all you have, you're eventually going to starve.

Only a spot up shooter as of now. A very good one though.

He is also 6'3 without shoes! He's a great kid and player. I've been to a few of his games, the fans love him in Memphis.

I agree...not just on Harris but on a lot of other names as well. I think this year more than any other I can remember a team might be well served to go 'off the board' if their scouting tells them to. Especially when it comes to SGs and SFs in this draft. Guys that you see listed as second rounders on mock drafts could easily outperform the projected 'lottery' guys.

I def agree.

Guys like Zo Brown, BJ Young, Erick Green, DeShaun Thomas, Isaiah Canaan, Jamaal Franklin, Ray McCallum...etc

Are honestly not that far off from the so called top players on the board.

Burke looks like a top 10 pick. Can't see him dropping out of the lottery.

Dallas, Utah or Sacramento would pick Burke for sure.

Harris is a nice player, but he's a spot up shooter with defense, not much, he cant creat his own offense, and he hasnt elite physical tools either, good starter probably, I see him being a good fit in Philadelphia for example, but not that much...

I like PJ Hairston a lot, I think he can be one of the best players coming out of this Draft in a few years, I'll try to grab another first and grab him, if the 1st pick isnt McLemore.

I never get it. Burke is a way better prospect than Marcus Smart and Burke is not slow like many said. He may have a less potential but heck he is way safer pick than Marcus Smart.

Might be some similar issues here with this Smart v. Burke debate towards the old Okafor v. Dwight debate. For the record, I wanted Okafor for his better skills and "defense" and "NBA readiness", and Im not implying athleticism should always reign supreme either like with Smart over Burke.

But look at the Magic's best assets in JJ and Dwight, they went towards players of elite athleticism who absolutely killed it in draft combines and athleticism measurements (and in the subsequent play we've seen from them) with Moe Harkless and Tobias Harris. My guess is, Smart is comfortably ahead of Burke within the Magic's draft board, and as a step further in the search for elite athleticism and developing their project areas, McLemore and Noels may be even higher than Smart. Smart and Noels seem to also have the same special striving mentality and work dedication as Moe does too, which helped took him from being a complete project to a great looking prospect as a mere 19 yr old still.

Trey Burke is a better college basketball player at the moment, but not necessarily a better prospect. It's based on potential. I'm not a scout, but I imagine that a lot of scouts see the physical tools that Smart has and believe that once he's able to become more consistent with his jumper and gain more experience as a point guard, he'll be the better NBA player. Same with Nerlens Noel. Cody Zeller is a better college basketball player, but he's also a year older and less physically gifted.

And going with the safe pick isn't necessarily the best strategy always.

The thing bugs me the most about Smart is that he lacks the quickness and lateral speed to play as a PG in the NBA.

I remember people talking about Kyrie Irving like he wasn't athletic enough to be an elite PG. I'll trust our scouts.

What do Marcus Smart, Otto Porter, Nerlens Noel, Shabazz Muhammad, Anthony Bennett, Alex Len, and Willie Cauley-Stein have in common? They are all highly toughted for the draft and are either are out of the tourney or never made it to begin with.

That leaves Ben McLemore, Cody Zeller, and Victor Oladipo as the only players playing to improve their stock.

Chad Ford insists that scouts and gms are very high on Smart and Bennett even though they had poor games in the tournament and that both will still go Top 5
