Noel cause an OK big is always more of an asset than an OK wing.

Bleacher Report just update after the 1st set of games and has the Bobcats taking Mohammad now. We are taking Noel at 2. McLemore drops to 5 for the Suns, and Smart goes 6th to the pistons.

Oh boy. Many are already complaining he is one dimensional? What about pure scorers like James Harden? Nobody seems to complain about that

I would not pick Shabazz either but everybody underrates him.

And I see Ben McLemore way better prospect than Marcus Smart. He is not just going to be a spot up shooter. He is just struggling getting his own shots now. But remember he is just a freshman. And more importantly, everybody in this top 5 range prospect has holes. To me, Marcus Smart has bigger one in lacking Point Guard speed and respectable jump-shots.

Harden is an advanced stats monster. By contrast, other than the occasional offensive rebound, Shabazz contributes absolutely NOTHING beyond his scoring.

Note that McLemore is already 21. He's also been shying away from competition on a consistent basis. I just don't see the star potential in him.Shabazz should go no higher than 6th, adding that he's actually a year older could spike on how a team views his potential. He's one dimensional and has no right hand, but I do like his game as a slasher/scorer.

I personally like Smart or Noel, if Noel can become a legitimate defensive anchor, he could work really well on this team. Same goes for Smart, but with developing a better offensive arsenal.

If we get 1st pick, we COULD trade down and go for a combination of Burke/Bigman or Burke/Oladipo and maybe hope for Noel to drop because of his injury.

if Noel is there we better draft him because all the top picks have looked like garbage so far and Burke looks like the best PG in the draft

Noel?? Shabazz?? Smart?

You guys are way too hung up on "rankings". If Burke was "ranked" higher by ESPN, nbadraft.net or DraftExpress.com then I have feeling all ya'll would be all over his nuts.

To hell with "rankings". "Rankings" got Marvin Williams taken ahead of Chris Paul.

We need to take the honest to goodness best player for us and not shoot ourselves in the foot because we didn't take the guy who's perceived value didn't match the draft pick value according to draftniks.

Burke's issue is something that cant be changed, his height and lack of athleticism.

For me draft wise, I would prefer to see the Magic get Smart or Noel. I think I'd prefer Noel, then we could throw Harris at the 3 next year, but we have to eventually upgrade our starting pg as much as I do like Jameer Nelson, he's 31 this year. I'd prefer to see Noel this year because if we get a top two pick next year it's all but a certainty we will draft Wiggins or Parker, both 3's if I recall, we have our frontcourt of the future set right there if all these players work out how there supposed to, a front line of Vucevic, Wiggins and Noel looks awful nice for several years. Noel can defend, Vucevic can rebound, and Wiggins is a scorer. A Nelson/Harkless/Afflalo/Free Agent PG backcourt along with Tobias Harris could be an pretty good young team to rival the Thunder in a few years. Assuming we can afford all these guys after there progressions as players. I'd also like to see Patrick Young drafted by the Magic, as I see Nicholson can't even average more rebounds that Jameer Nelson, thats a flat out 12th man at best in my view. Young could be the bruiser we need.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

I like Noel with the top pick. Very versatile and he's defensive gamechanger. I think he will be a guy that can outrun almost every big in transition too. I dont think taking Noel would make Nicholson redundant infact I think it would benefit him. You can go with rotations of Noel/Vuc, Nicholson/Noel/, and even Harris/Noel if you want to run.

If Noel is off the board or Rob doesn't want him McLemore is a guy I'd like on the Magic. Very athletic, not selfish, and he's a great shooter. He may be an off-ball guy but there have been some pretty good off-ball scorers over the years. If McLemore turns out to be the next Jason Richardson then I think you take that and run in this draft. Those are great #2 guys.

I don't think Tobes at the 4 is our answer to our paint defense problems, does anyone else? I think we have a problem with him at the 4. If Dwight was still here we'd be good, but we have Vucevic who is a different ball player.

Still leaning towards Smart, though them losing in the first round was disappointing. Next for me would be Noel.
