He's in the mold of Deandre and Sanders.

It's an advanced payment for hopes of the future, not a good recipe.

Except neither Deandre or Larry have offensive games to speak of which separates the good from great bigs and he's a very good defender--much improved this year IMO.

DeAndre gets 10mm to sit on the bench down the stretch bc he's such a liability from the line...bigs are generally overpaid--ibaka is not one of them IMO. We agree to disagree--whtevs.

Ibaka is much better than Deandre Jordan.

Lin didn't have a good game but Houston wins...that team is first on offense, top 5 assists...near the bottom in D but kind of the team D'Antoni wanted in NY

Hes made alot of trades, robbing teams blind (including us...)
has brought in ALOT of talented players
And he's truly done a great job..

However, you still see that team only fighting for a low playoff seed in the West
And I understand that with his young players, and new players you have to give him "time"
But he's been there since '07, at what point is he suppose to turn that team into a legit contender?

Eghh, maybe im hating..but with the amount of moves hes made, and the time hes had...i;d expect better tbh
:dontknow:

Their franchise player Yao, had to retire prematurely... they had to start over from scratch. Considering his best player was not-so-young Kevin Martin, and they somehow managed to get a franchise player (Harden), locking up Parsons at >$1mil per for next 3 years, and 2 possible All Stars (Lin, Asik), and maybe a possible All Star (Thomas Robinson)... and very good supporting cast. Seventh seed for the youngest team in the L is nice...

Lin and Asik are allstars now? Thomas Robinson an allstar? So basically, they have 4 allstars and are only the 7tha seed? That kind of sucks.

The more important and impressive factor is he had to do all of this while competing as the owner would not allow him to tank for a high draft pick. Rebuilding that way is v difficult if not usually impossible unless youre the lakers.

Huge stretch but Thomas Robinson as the #5 draft pick was considered to have all-star potential. I don't think he does but whatever. Asik isn't going to be an All-Star anytime soon but he's an All-Star defender. Lin possesses East All-Star potential but I'm doubtful he'll ever 'get it' and will probably just be a solid starting PG which is good in a league stacked with them.

Agreed. Ibaka is still a great PF to have though because he can play spot minutes at the five, he's got a good mid-range jumper which makes him an honest stretch-4 and he plays solid defense and hustles.

The thing is the description for the PF position these days is "secondary rebounder, weak-side interior defender who hits open jump-shots." Not exactly a high impact position. Larry Sanders would be worth Ibaka's contract simply because he's a legitimate defensive anchor at 5.

TRob might be out of the league in a few years, let alone All Star.

Who really knows right but he obviously has talent and Pat Pat and Motie were redundant players and, instead, they have a player that could potentially do their dirty work for them. Could they have traded Pat Pat + filler for the 5th pick in the draft before the season? Not to mention that TROB has another year left on his rookie deal. It was a low risk high reward robbery.

Oh, I don't disagree. The book was written on Pat so this was definitely a great trade for Morey. No lose situation for Morey.

Also, TRob has 2 years + RFA status in his 4th.

Butch Carter (former Raptors coach) once said it on one of his players: T-Mac

The kid can play. He just needs to simplify things and work hard.

The aim of basketball is to put the ball through the hoop. He doesn't have the 7'0 waiver so he needs to be able to put it in the hoop. He can't do that. He's a 6'8 track athlete.

How many TMacs are there compared to all the hundreds players who look like they aren't that good?

gary washburn ‏@GwashNBAGlobe 15m According to Doc, #celtics are still waiting for Garnett's MRI results and Doc said Garnett could miss 4-5 games but he wasn't certain

Yep. That would make an already poor rebounding team even worse...and he would be out for the 2nd meeting at MSG too. I still wont take a KG-less Celts team lightly though.

that would awesome if we beat the celtics twice and dropped them into the 8th seed to face Miami in the first round.

Then getting the 2 seed would be that much more important because playing Milwaukee would be a great matchup for us.
