Having to listen to Townsend while watching Cleverly destroys my soul.

A little early for that, they've still got two matches with San Marino, one with Moldova, Montenegro at home, the return against Ukraine and then face England on the last match day. Meanwhile Montenegro still have two with england, home to ukraine, on the road to poland, and a match up with Moldova on the last day. If Poland can get the 9 from San Marino and Moldova and beat Montenegro, they'll still be in the mix to make the playoff.

Defense looked disgusting today. Falling behind 0-2 within the first 7 minutes
FINAL STATS
Poland - Ukraine
Time of Possession: 59 vs 41
Attempts on Target: 7 vs 8
Corners: 8 vs 2
Fouls Committed: 7 vs 26
Yellow Cards: 1 vs 5
Bottomline: Finishing Ukraine was 3/8 and Poland only 1/7
Lewandowski hasn't scored for NT since the opening game of Euro Tournament vs Greece. That's staggering

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification
No doubt it was a terribly disappointing result for them, but Poland could absolutely still get into the playoff spot, take their chances better, keep their defense tighter, a little help from England, and not too much help from the Ukraine, and Poland have a reasonable course to 2nd.

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification
Montegro isn't pulling any punches. A few shots fired but these comments are pretty much on point.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013 ... ko-brnovic
[Montenegrin Football Association] president, Dejan Savicevic: "I would say [they are arrogant] because that's what could be seen, even when they played San Marino, given some of the things they said. But things will certainly be quite different now [compared to when Montenegro last hosted England in October 2011 in qualification for Euro 2012]. We are the leaders in our group this time. We're not chasing after anything and we have nothing to prove. This will be quite a spectacle.
"I hear England have [pencilled in] friendlies against Germany and Argentina in November. Perhaps they did so before the start of the qualifiers, because definitely they believe in themselves. Perhaps after the game with us tomorrow they will have to cancel them, and they may suffer a penalty. Who knows? We want to take the opportunity ahead of us. I'm not saying we can't lose the game tomorrow, but England will really have to toil to beat us."
Vucinic: "We'll run out on to the field thinking of victory, but even if we fail it won't be as big a problem for us as it would be for England if they failed here," he said. "For sure, the pressure is on them because, if I'm not wrong, they'll be five points behind if we win.
...
Asked about the absence of John Terry and Rio Ferdinand from Hodgson's team, Vucinic added: "They must have their personal reasons for that, but I'm sure the match would be better and more interesting if they played too because they are certainly among the best defenders in the world today. But I certainly do see [Chris Smalling and Joleon Lescott's inclusion] as a source of weakness because, if they're not playing regularly for their own clubs, I don't see why their national coach should be picking them."
...
Asked about Alan Shearer's assertion that Montenegro would "kick, shove, scratch and abuse" Rooney to provoke a reaction, the coach retorted: "As far as I know, Rooney was the one who attacked our player last time, not vice versa. And I know that both Jovetic and Vucinic always suffer strong kicks, but they never complain. And I can say that such English legends are already trying to resort to excuses for what happens tomorrow. Everyone seems bothered."

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification
He actually said more colorful things about England not having to worry about the pitch since they hoof it up from defense to the forwards anyway

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification
"We respect and appreciate the English team, but even more so we appreciate our own qualities," scoffed Brnovic, whose side are 9-2 long-shots to win tomorrow night despite being at home, rather good at football and two points clear of England at the summit of Group H. "I'm sure we'll make the most of them tomorrow. I've read statements from some English players about the way the pitch will look. As far as I know, the English have always favoured long passes, so who should complain about this? Us, with [Mirko] Vucinic, [Stevan] Jovetic, [Marko] Basa, or England? They're also intimidated by our fans. All these stories are coming from their side. That shows they're more scared of this game than we are."

I'm rooting for Montenegro in this one, I want as many Balkan teams in the World Cup as possible. (Except Serbia)

9-2 is decent odds for a solid team playing at home

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification
Disappointed to see Milner in the side today, like the Gerrard-Carrick-Cleverley midfield though.

Yeah would rather see Young or Ox in there as atleast one true wide player. 5 United players in the linw-up, good to see.

No Gerrard = No long balls. With Wilshere in this looks a promising midfield.
