MWPs last game as a Laker?

Post#1 » by Mamba Venom » Thu Mar 28, 2013 3:08 am

Hate to be a downer, but I don't think its likely MWP is a Laker next season with 2014 free agency plan.

I for one loved MWPs interviews and as Stu says 'his left hand'

I love MWP. But it's time to move on from our "old school" era. Need some young bloods. So yea, I hope so.

Not at all. I can see metta staying even if he opts out. He's liked. Hell he spent most the summer in el Segundo and there were stories of Jim doing the rebounding while he shot. He's been a good la citizen and I can see him getting another deal for less money to stay here.

I'm going to miss him. I am so happy he was able to win a championship alongside Kobe.
That story of him visiting Kobe in the locker room after losing to Boston game six 2008 promising he will help Kobe win a championship is still so dear to me. Not sure how real that story is but I still use it to have a reason to love Ron.
He did in fact come through in the finals game seven when Kobe went cold , Ron came through with some key shots and steals.
Will always be a fan of Ron artest aka MWP

I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

I hope hes gone now, he will be missed but we really need a SF that can keep up with the young guys in the league now, maybe in a few years he will be in the celebrity all star game I'd love to see him guard Kevin Hart

Unless we make a deep run, he's getting amnestied, plain and simple. There's no way management is going to absorb an extra 20 million for a player of MWP's caliber with the impending luxury tax coming for next season.

I think they may have to amnesty Pau, just for the dollars, and because the lineup ain't working. Then watch him go play for the minimum in SA or Miami, or memphis

Probably.

The only way I can see Metta on the team next year is if he agrees to opt out and take a paycut, (maybe $3 mill/year) to get an extra year or something. If he opts in, he'll likely be amnestied, which means he could end up playing anywhere.

There's no reason to waste an amnesty on an expiring... What's it get us?

I'm betting we don't use our amnesty clause on anyone. After this season, the only players we could use it on will be expiring.

Hopefully we can use our expirings to get some athletic players that other teams would rather not continue to pay.
