Heat slow starts

Post#1 » by seminoles1993 » Thu Mar 28, 2013 3:40 am

Okay this is not a coincidence. This has become a habit going into the playoffs. We're not beating anyone in the playoffs this way. Somethings has to change. Whether its UD on the bench or more urgency (esp. wade) from tip-off. Thoughts?

Urgency. Problem is every team comes out amped to play Miami, and Miami never comes out amped to play anyone. That 5-man unit has actually been awesome all season overall. They just drag to start because they don't match the other team's energy. It's a mental thing.

I'm surprised it went on for so long and still won 27 in a row...

yeah it won't cut it in the playoffs

they talk so much about trying to get better in the playoffs, and they only care about wins but cmon... you aren't half-assing your way to the 4th, only to rely on heroics on LeBron in god mode, and except to win on the biggest stage?! haaaaa

perfect time to lose, and in a bad way. it should get their heads together.

everything is different in the playoffs. and its all about our defense. when the defense is stifling and we are creating turnovers, thats when we are most dangerous. defense is all about effort. just wait till the playoffs. the next 3 weeks could get ugly(effort wise)

Is it only me or do you guys also get the impression that only LBJ cared??? i had a bad feeling right after the end of our last game when DWade interviewed Bron. i saw it coming. To loose, coming out sloppy of the gates... it's tough to keep up the level of energy high, but it should not take 3 or more quarters for our team to catch up to the level of urgency and focus, like LBJ does from the getgo... Better to lose now. Plenty of time to adjust if it wasn't for our coach to be Spobot...

I honestly believe it is because Wade doesn't even play the whole 1st quarter, he barely plays 8 minutes of it. I think Wade feels out the opponent in the 1st and then when he is by himself in the 2nd quarter, that's when he tries to be aggressive.

We have to just jump on teams right off tip and its the end. That should be the formula. You go hard in the first, mid way of 3rd and fourth and game over. You do that and you set yourself up nicely for the win.

Go hard against the Bulls in the first quarter and they have no way of coming back, they can't score, they couldnt even score a lot when Rose was there. Everyone needs to be dialed in from the get and that probably also requires starting Birdman.

IMO it's a combination of Chalmers and Bosh struggling with their shot and careless turnovers from the team. Once Bosh breaks out of his slump and we run more versatile plays for him (and he finishes those plays), things will open up for LBJ and Wade. Mario's gotta stay knocking down shots or finding gaps in the defense for easy shots.

Teams are loading up on LBJ and our guys haven't been making them pay. Maybe our offense has become too lethargic and guys are settling rather than working the offense looking for that 4th and 5th option.

Did you miss the Finals last year? Hell, most of the last two postseasons have seen us consistently concede big leads to teams, only to claw them back in the second half. It's not good, but it's what they do. PEACE.

should be noted, Wade rarely plays well against the Bulls and Celtics - they pretty much play the same defense.

Also he doesn't get calls. Its at a point where i dont even expect him to play well against these teams now

Because, simply, we start the game playing 4 vs 5! Haslem is useless even as a bench player !

A lot easier for a team to slump or be super energetic/lucky, like last night, for one game than a 7 game series. As frustrated as I was last night, we needed a bad loss. Even Jerry mentioned how complacent the Lakers got while on the streak, basically taking winning for granted. 72-10 bulls didn't lose 10 games to the best team in the NBA either.

I think when the playoffs start, we will have our slower starts, but overall it hasn't been a major struggle. Our first quarter points were way higher during this season (at least they were post all-star break) that previous two.

Forget Bosh's shot ... he needs to start rebounding like a man.

Or at least half a man.

this is a problem that continues to happen again over and over

this season only ..

vs toronto we start down 9 - 2
vs washington we start down 9 - 2
vs sixers down 19 - 0 , even 26 - 4 lol
vs chicago first game, i think same thing happened... down 11 - 2 i think..we overturned things around.

Return to Miami Heat
