Re: Odom FA
We originally traded for him instead of trying to grab him after Dallas waived him in order to obtain his bird rights for this upcoming offseason. He has had some decent moments, but it's not enough to really raise his value on the market.
I personally think he's a Vet Min type player (if this is as good as he gets). Some team out there might be interested in him for the room exception or possibly even the taxpayer MLE. When you consider that there's probably only a small handful of teams that he's willing to play with, maybe that changes what he's offered by us.
If he's going to take it easy over the summer, then I don't want him back.

Re: Odom FA
i like him...
one thing that troubles me is his FTs...for some reason they just scream to me that he doesn't GAF.
bring him back for cheap though.
bring barnes back too.
i want another tall PF to play along side him as well....maybe a stretch 4
and as soon as i say that....I look at the beauty that is Channing Frye's contract....hnnnnngggghhhh
my what that would do for us.

I think (hope) his Dallas stunt killed his market outside of LA. With the Lakers holding Pau, Dwight, Clark and Hill, there won't be much room for him down the hall.

Odom has been shooting over 60% from the FT line for about 20+ games now though, I think mid-60's, and career wise he's a high 60s guy, so he's about where you would expect now I think.
I've always wanted Frye because not only is he a great stretch big, he's also capable of playing and guarding both the 4/5. One of the biggest issues with a stretch big for this team is that most are PF's without true size to play C. Frye is capable of playing both positions and therefore can be put on the floor with both Blake and DJ. He has the heart issues though, and I'm not sure what the situation with that is. He can't do strenuous exercise, and can only shoot max 100-200 jumpers, you know he's going to have gained weight and be way put of shape when he returns.
Also, while his total rebounding numbers don't look great, it's because he's not much of an offensive rebounder, but he's not bad defensively on the glass. His 6.6 defensive Rebs/36 last season isn't far off from Blake's 6.9 / 36 this season and not too far off from his career 7.7 / 36 mark. So there are good things he brings, but this isn't just a year off NBA basketball, it's a year off from strenuous activity, that's a big chance to take in going for a guy like that unless you first see him producing.

We better not spend much and since he's loves LA so much I'm almost positive he won't complain.

Re: Odom FA
Odom has to prove himself in the gym and in keeping in shape. He won't be an early free agency signing for the Clippers unless his dedication is visible.
His value is rock bottom though, so he could be gotten at the minimum, and if he's dedicated, it is a bargain. There isn't going to be much bidding going on as most teams know what happened in Dallas and that he wants to be in a certain area, and even without that, his production isn't inviting anyone.

Re: Odom FA
All of you have made great points. Bring Odom back if he's dedicated to staying in shape and bring him back cheap.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

If he wants to come back for the vet minimum, then great. Same with Chauncy (unless CP says give him more money). I'm sure back up C/PF is one of the areas Clipper mgmt is looking to adress in the off season. LO has been a disappointment, but i wouldn't mind him as a 9th/10th/11man for the minimum. Clippers could use the money on something else, like maybe signing a great three point shooter like Kyle Korver or somebody like that.

Martell Webster is the 3PT shooter target this off-season, going to be hard to pry him from Washington. 14.3 pts/36, 44% 3PT, .620 TS%, yup, that would be nice at F/G.
Agree about Odom and Chauncey, though with Chauncey, I feel that there is the pressure to make him a starter, and it isn't the best situation for the team anymore. The team could get a proper backup big man then have Odom replace the role of a Turiaf or Hollins on this current team.
