Ok, I was kind of sleeping last night when I replied but what I meant was that you don't take a pitch that would be ball 4 with a huge lead if its possible to just take a cut at it.

As for the throwing at pitchers, I agree that thats how it used to be done but definitely not anymore, which explains why Roger Clemens hasn't caught a fastball to the head yet.

Early in Pedro's career, when he was considered a headhunter in Montreal, he caught a couple that buzzed him by the head.

For me, unwritten rules are things that have been in place for generations. Hitting the other pitcher (not in the head but in the midsection) was a way of protecting your batters. It's been like that for awhile and while you don't see it as often, I'd still consider it an unwritten rule. If I pitched in the NL, I'd certainly do it and I think my teammates would be behind me because I'm sticking up for them. mahalo

When Prince Fielder is running at you in the field or to home plate, get out of his way.

That's actually written in the MLB rulebook. Part XII, section 32, rule 4.6. mahalo

Don't sit next to a pitcher when he's throwing a no hitter
Don't mention that he's throwing a no hitter while he's throwing a no hitter
Always give a foul boul to a kid

A couple of unwritten fan rules:

If you're 15 or older don't bring a glove to a game hoping to catch a foul ball.

Same age, asking for autographs after a loss.

Never get up during the middle of an at-bat.

Heckle Gary Sheffield as much as possible.
