Bumped

Clearly 80% of the votes shows the FO did a better than average job this summer. Common themes seem to be

1) No real clear direction (Tankers versus Winning)
2) Well positioned with lots of assets
3) Good signings in Dragic and Scola

It was a calculated risk when we took on Beasley and Wes Johnson, and so far one of them panned out....
Scola, Gortat is tradeable and can net us a few picks. Our players don't really have long term contracts..
The only bad move which i didn't agree with at the time is picking up Kendall Marshall...
We can all diss the Beasley move all we want but we needed to take a chance but it didn't pay off... **** happens...

I liked the Beasley signing. At 6 mill a year he was a risk worth taking.

I still feel we shouldn't give up on him, and hopefully we can find more minutes at the 4 for him next year with Scola gone.

You know DRK I promised myself before the season started that I wouldnt judge Beasley after just 1 year. Out of fairness I wanted to give him time to get acclimated to Phoenix and mature (and of course having a stronger team) etc but I don't really like his game to be honest and i've really soured on his chances.

I may be wrong and he may turn into the MIP next season but as of today I honestly just don't see the fire in his eyes; or much of anything to be honest.

He's worth $6-7m per year. He may not be very good but damn it if they don't try their hardest to develop him.

Yeah I'm completely neutral on Beasley so far.

I still think Gentry misused him as a starter on offence, and just set him up to fail. Told to stand in the corner waiting for the ball, and given an Iso with 10 seconds left to bail us out. Thats not his game at all. So much for "He's our go-to-guy." Complete bull$hit talk from Gentry.

Beasley needs to play the 4. I still believe that. He's a good man defender against bigger players like Gasol. It's the quicker players he cant guard - and especially if he's playing at the 3, he gets caught in screens WAY too often.

I would like to see Beasley given plays as a Pick and Roll finisher. It would be a good test for him to see whether he can or cannot play the 4 for us in the long run.

Not really following you here. He's been an abject failure so far...how is he worth $6M a year?

Wes, whose play has hovered between "terrible" and "mediocre", has played much, much better than Beasley, and I imagine that if Wes gets a contract next season, it'll be for like 3M a year or something like that.

Has Wes panned out?

Let's look at two players:

Player 1: 13.3 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 2.5 APG, 45% FG, 30% 3 PT
Player 2: 13.7 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 1.3 APG, 41% FG, 31% 3PT

Player 1 is Shannon Brown as a starter(22 games).
Player 2 is Wesley Johnson as a starter(13 games).

Their production is almost identical, except Shannon shoots a lot better and passes the tiniest bit more.

So if you like Wes Johnson, you should love Shannon Brown.

And nobody loves Shannon Brown.
