OT: Kevin Ware Louisville injury

Post#1 » by The Moose » Sun Mar 31, 2013 10:00 pm

Not sure if any of you saw it, but it was the worst injury I have ever seen :o , looks like his career is done, you have to feel horrible for the kid, the players, bench and coaches were visibly sick and most louisville players were crying as well as the coach Pitino.
Don't want to post it in case some people here can't handle these types of things, just a gruesome injury

Definitely the worst injury I've ever seen. You've gotta feel horrible for the guy. Maybe it was just the way his knee bended, but it looked like his leg broke in 2 spots. I've never seen anything like that before.

Yeah it's not like he did anything crazy, he just jumped, and his ankle gave way completely as he landed, for players to be vomiting on the bench it must have been terrible close up, I could see the bone from my tv

The way it was dangling it 2 different spots, it was like he turned into a Pinocchio doll.

I feel like Ware was probably playing through a stress fracture, because otherwise, I can't see how his Tibia just snapped like that on a bad landing from a jump. It looks terrible, but hopefully he recovers.

The reaction from the other players was the worst part IMO

Didn't see it. Was it worse than Sam Bowie?

Not sure I want to see it to be honest...people are saying it's gruesome. An orthodpedic doctor apparently said he could be back in 3 months? That seems way to quick. That's as much as a mental injury as a physical injury...I don't know how I could get back on the court after that if that happened to me.

It looks bad, and I had to look away when I first watched it, but after the initial shock of what happens it's not too bad to watch (in my opinion). It's not something that you wanna watch over and over again, but I think that watching it should be okay. When they first show it from a distance it doesn't look as bad as the closeup. So you could probably judge from that whether or not you wanna watch the closeup.

Truly saddening. The worst part for him is just going to be the rehab. He's going to have to have a ton of mental toughness to get through this one and hopefully medical science has gotten to the point where this guy can walk and run without pain in 20 years.

It was horrifying. I was watching the game with my brother and dad live and on that second replay we were all standing and screaming at the TV. I feel terrible for that kid.

I say don't do it. I clicked it, immediately closed it before it fully loaded. You can see the bone big time and I wasn't expecting that. If you're in any way queazy, this is not for you.

We were watching the game and were wondering which player was injured being his teamates were on the ground. We were thinking that players collided or something. Then, ABC decided to show the replay and all of us were feeling sick. This is right after a huge easter dinner.

I don't think his career is over, although not sure if he was NBA material anyway (he isn't even a starter in college).

That being said, I think all his muscles and ligaments are fine. Bones will heal, and it wasn't the bone that is right on the joint.

The reason why I say all this is that a few years back I had to have my leg surgically broken and realigned. An external fixator is attached to the leg and bone will grow back and strengthen, especially for a young kid. It was a brutal injury, and he is not going to be balling this summer, but I wouldn't be surprised to seem him playing next season.

Well he is a freshman backup to the best backcourt in the country, so there's a good reason he's not starting.
