Always a popular thread... but maybe not so much this season?

If you could be AA who would you trade, why and for who?

I know this is unlikely but I'd like another big bat, to help out on offense. Soon as a player or 2 go down to injury, we might have gaps since our AAA hitters aren't quite there.

Alfonso Soriano is under contract for 2 more years at 19M per, and hit .262/.322/.499 last year and was worth 3.6 fWAR. Why go for him? Chicago would likely be willing to eat a large portion of his salary, and it just overall wouldn't take too much to get him. He's played in the AL East and can still move in the OF decently despite being... Well... Old.

So what I would do:
Toronto Receives
Alfonso Soriano
15M Cash (10M first year, 5M second)

Chicago Receives
Rajai Davis
Kevin Pillar (15th ranked prospect)
John Stilson (10th ranked prospect)
Ryan Goins (Unranked)
Chad Jenkins (Unranked)

I think by eating over half his salary he wouldn't cost a whole lot prospect wise. I think Rajai would be redundant on the roster, just because Alfonso can be an OF in the event that we need a 4th OF, and if a player hits the DL we can rely on Gose. Pillar is a pure hitter without many tools, but should still break the Majors as a slightly more impressive Mike McCoy but OF only version. Stilson would be the main prospect, if command issues settle down he has nasty stuff. Goins is also a guy who should be a top 20 prospect IMO, and with a .364 OBP this spring he showed great plate vision. Jenkins represents solid depth with upside to maybe be a 5th starter.

What we get is a solid bat in a hitter friendly park in a familiar division. Given that he can play the OF is a huge bonus, gives us a lot of flexibility.
