Do you agree with a coach that calls out a player publicly?
Hunter is notorious for doing this. I think it has a negative affect on the players. I could quote a lot of hunters comments he has made publicly about the players. But it would take awhile.
Here is the latest of his boneheaded statements:
@Craig620: #Suns Hunter, "Our supposedly toughest guy didn't practice today." What's wrong with PJ Tucker? Answer, "He has a boo-boo."
This is not the type of statements I want my supposedly coach to be making to the press.
But I could be wrong, maybe some of you agree with this tactic.

Yes, I think it is a very bad decision talking in that way about his players.
I hope we will sign a real coach next year.

I was on this boat for a while now. Not sure we can drag him away from the Merc once Griner shows up.
As for this silly thread, meh, didn't the OP said Tucker shouldn't even be in the NBA? And now he is upset because the coach is teasing him?

Ignore the village idiot(rundogrun), nothing to see. Reading what he writes is like eating 20 mega fire hot wings then taking a dump. It's painful.

Re: Calling out players publicly?
This habit of tossing players under the bus publicly provides some interesting insight as to why the rest of the coaching staff was so disgusted with his hire, and the rumors that he was undermining the staff before his elevation.
Supposedly he is Lance Blanks boy... so its not surprising that he has been horrible.
As for Corey Gaines, I dont know that he would be a great candidate but I gotta disagree the idea that he would turn down an NBA head coaching gig (and the enormous raise that it would entail) in favor of staying in the WNBA.

I thought the same thing about Gaines a few months ago when we were discussing him. However, many here felt that he might stay in the WNBA with good possibilities to have a great team. Money isn't everything.

Habit? He teased a player about missing practice.

And compared Beasley to a crying child...
And yeah, money isnt everything, and I dont have the numbers of what WNBA coaches get paid... but seeing as the league does nothing but lose money and their season only lasts 30 something games, I'm pretty sure the money difference is gigantic. NBA coaches make 2-5 mil per year... I would be surprised if the typical WNBA coach made more than 10% of that, and perhaps less seeing as the player salary caps at ~100k.
And on top of the enormous financial difference, the NBA is obviously in another stratosphere of prestige in the coaching profession.
But all that aside, I admit I dont know much about Gaines, but his record makes me question the hype.

I remember Alvin Gentry doing this exact same thing after the end of 2011. He pretty much blamed the seasons failures entirely on Robin Lopez, like he thought Rolo, coming off back surgery, would be able to carry the load as our only big....

Re: Calling out players publicly?
As long as Hunter and his public criticism " focuses on the issue, not the person" then he'll be fine. if he let's his criticisms become personal in nature he will begin to lose individual players, then the team.
