Kentucky class: Goodwin declares

Post#1 » by No-Man » Mon Apr 1, 2013 3:52 pm

Wiltjer and Cauley-Stein will come back, and Harrow had transfer to Georgia St.

I think Poythress will declare too, his relationship with Calipari isnt good, and I don't think he's going to wait for another year to paly somewhere else when he can be a late lotto pick this year.

Good decision. He'd get buried behind Harrison and Young.

Big fan of his game. There's no other player in the country who can match his slashing ability. This guy has the potential to become a starting SG for the next 10+ years if he continues to work hard on his decision making and shooting ability.

Good decision. Poythress should return - he has the ability to improve his draft stock - but I wouldn't be surprised if he declares. Wiltjer might be better off transferring as well. That or he seriously needs to hit the weights and treadmill this summer.

Goodwin is the Austin Rivers redux, he's going to be out of the league in a couple of years.

except that goodwin is actually a really good athlete with ideal physical qualities for a SG as well as legitimate slashing and finishing ability that cannot be taught. rivers has none of those qualities.

now this is a better example. can't argue against that. although to be honest, i was never that high on burks. primarily because i didnt see him play much in college.

Goodwin's touch around the rim is horrible, I don't think he has NBA-level finishing ability. I think he'll struggle just as much as Rivers did.

I don't know how many scorers have thrown up a 100 ORtg in college and have gone on to succeed in the NBA either.

Burks actually produced unlike Goodwin (25.8 PER, 121 ORtg for Burks compared to 16.9 PER, 100 ORtg for Goodwin)

Burks is a good comparison. He's worked his tail off and has improved his jumpshot. He's getting backup minutes at both guard spots and has been doing a good job defending point guards.

He's probably going to start next season as the Jazz are going to give the youngsters a chance to develop aka perform the ultimate tank for 2014.

Goodwin will work on his flaws and become a force in the league.

Goodwin needs a brain transplant but if he can raise his IQ to any competent level he can be scary good. If I'm a mid-late lottery team playing with house money I'm taking him off the board for sure.

You're showing admirable restraint not listing Wiggins yet, but I think it's highly likely UK gets him, too. I'm also wondering if Calipari will go with a 'small' lineup with Randle at c (and maybe Poythress at pf?). WCS is good and will probably be a lottery pick when he comes out, but I wouldn't be surprised if he fell to 3rd on the depth chart at c behind Randle and Johnson by season's end (because they might be so good). Regardless, it'll be a lot of fun seeing how all this top-shelf talent shakes out.

The 2014 NBA draft is probably going to have a ridiculous number of UK players. Maybe 7 of the top 15 taken?

Wiggins
Randle
Harrison
Harrison
Young
WCS
Poythess

It's also possible that Johnson and Lee might come out, too, giving UK 9 first-rounders. UK set the record recently with 5 first-rounders in one draft...they may come close to doubling that record next year. Heck, maybe Wiltjer can make strides and come out as a first rounder next year, too, to give them an even 10 :)

Regarding Burks, he will have a breakout year next year, guaranteed.

FIFY

Aaron Harrison is JR Smith 2.0, good thing his bro is legit cause he wouldn't be ranked that high.. Young is better. .
