Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
i didn't know what was going on at first; Cook was running down the court freaking out and I thought he was mad about a foul call, then there's 3 Louisville guys on the ground like they were injured. When they showed the injury you slowly realize how horrible it was when he's lying on the ground and his leg is hanging like an al dente piece of spaghetti

Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
If we keep the Memphis pick, we'll either go with someone to stash (Adetokunbo) or someone who has the ability to step in and fill a role immediately if called upon.
If the latter, guys I see us targeting include Jamal Franklin, Allen Crabbe, Reggie Bullock, or Michael Snaer.
If you're wanting someone like Gorgui Dieng, you'll likely have to take him with our own pick.

So this kid just potentially became a cripple playing contact sport for free?
Is he going to be compensated in some way by the NCAA?
Because if not, that's some bull.

This is what I don't get about this argument:
He is getting compensated, by not having to pay over $20,000 a year to attend the University of Louisville. Other students will graduate with roughly $80,000 in student loans to pay off. Many Division I student-athletes basically get a free education.

Is that enough tho?
Say, he can't play no more. Who's hiring him?

I'm with Tirion on this one. As much money as the NCAA rakes in and as much as they benefit from these kids, the least they can do is help him out in his time of need.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

A firm who likes his resume and degree, just like any other normal person?
Not to be insensitive but he wasn't Siva or Smith who could possible turn college basketball into a career. It is very unfortunate but I don't think he'll have a hard time getting a job provided he gets his degree.

The only thing I would offer is a scholarship for the remainder of their undergrad, and as incentive to do good in class I would offer for their graduate school to be paid for as well if they got accepted.

HD photo is baaaad.
I'm always going to think about that when I jump on the court now.

Good lord I just saw that vid, not even going to look at the photo. If that was me I would have been crying like a baby, what a tough kid.

The doctors said he should have a full recovery and play again.

As bad as it looked, it was a broken leg. People recover every day from this type of injury.

He should be fine - like WG said, it's a broken bone and once that heals, he should be structurally sound long-term. And I'm basing that on no medical knowledge or even a hasty google search, just off the cuff assumptions. I think its right though, you wouldn't believe what they can do with screws nowadays.

Sounds good to me! And Harrow is transferring to Georgia State. No we'll see if Poythress wants to return and back-up Wiggins or declare for the draft

Shabazz is basically Michael Beasley, if Beasley sucked in college.
If Beasley actually cared/tried hard. Big difference.

Shabazz may have a shady background but he is a hard working player on and off the court. He seems like a smart kid as well despite everything that has happened.

Is it just me, or is Russ Smith a beast finishing inside? Seems to finish contested layups with ease.

Re: NCAA Basketball Thread / 2013 Draft Targets
I'm leaning toward trading the pick. I don't know if anyone watches these Draft Express scouting videos but there are some recently added videos for some of the lotto prospects.
