With Penn at 170 and old Shamrock, that doesn't seem like a particularly impressive list.

Not as exciting a list as you would expect, though he does also have wins over Paul Daley, Chris Lytle, Josh Neer, Scott Smith, Drew Fickett, Gleison Tibau, Marius Zaromskis, and KJ Noons. So he has good volume. He also had a win over Takanori Gomi changed to a no contest due to weed.

Diaz's resume actually looks better than I thought it would, especially if you consider the Gomi win.

I thought the Kerr win was overturned. Maybe they fought again.

So what's stopping him from being ranked higher? Relative lack of big org experience?

The majority of his wins are over people you and I have never heard of. Outside of those 4 victories listed, his next biggest win is over Chris Cariaso. He needs more big fight wins and general tougher opposition. Also, taking that interim term off his title would help too.

#50 - Gegard Mousasi

Image

http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Gegard-Mousasi-7466

A timely entry to the list (as he fights tomorrow), Gegard Mousasi is a former Dream Light Heavyweight and Middleweight champion as well as the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion. He has a career record of 33-3-2, with wins over Mark Hunt, Jacare Souza, Babalu Sobral, and Hector Lombard. A good run in the stacked UFC Light Heavyweight division can really send Mousasi flying up this list.

I know I'm usually the guy who advocates guys not cutting so much weight, but I still think Mousasi should be at middleweight. Look at that picture. He wouldn't be big at all at mw. On the flip side, he'd look two weight classes smaller than Rampage or Texeira or someone.
