Shaq's Jersey to be retired on April 2nd

Is anyone else as pissed as me that the Lakers didn't continue the "style" of jersey that they had retired for decades?!?!

Why should Shaq's be different? He also played in the older-looking uniform earlier in his career.

Plus they totally retired the FRONT of the jersey with the "V" neck on it. It just looks stupid.

I teared up a little watching that but I felt kind of disappointed that he did not say a simple thanks to his teammates. You know guys like Horry, Fox, Rice and Fisher along with Kobe did so much for those titles.

My exact thoughts... I mean Kobe did his part (did you guys think he volunteered, or do you think he was asked to?)... Shaq could've at least mentioned them.

Lakers vice president of public relations John Black told Ball Don't Lie on Wednesday that the reversed recognition "was an error and will be corrected as soon as we can get a new jersey for the wall made up." Black said the team hoped to have the replacement jersey ready "in about a week, but [it] could be a couple of weeks."

The Buss family didn't put a rush on the statue EVEN when Kareem was sick. Kareem is an old man. He just wanted to be alive to see it.

Statues are much harder to do then a jersey retirement, but I am disappointed it took so long to get the SkyHook statue. Now that the statue is up, all is good in Lakerland.
