If you are truly building a "sustainable" playoff team you have to have high picks in next years draft. Get them through sucking or get them threw trades but get those picks...and there is no way Henny isn't planning on having good picks for that draft. There is a reality to being good in the NBA and Rob is fully aware of it, go down to go up. I am sure the hope with Magic brass is the TPE can be turned into a high pick but even if that was the case you have to control your own destiny where that draft is concerned.

I can't imagine a better plan than picking top three next year, you do what you have to do. I don't know how it's gonna happen but the Magic will be big players in the draft and free agency. Strap the F in. :D

Isn't that what Dwight was like in his early years in Magic jersey?

We need to score two top 3 picks in the next two years and then strike some major FA find in 2014-2015 if we're going to return to prominence fast. I'm not sure we can, but we have Henny in control and he was on a team that did a good job building from the bottom up.

Funny to see that there are 4 GMs listed on that article. The Magic, Hawks, Thunder, and Spurs. All the rest of the teams sent scouts.

Just wait until the agents get a hold of him. The humility will melt away.

I was thinking the same thing. All those 4 guys have ties to the Spurs front office in some way. They def do things differently than most other teams.

i wonder if the Thunder and Spurs are considering pulling off a big trade to land a lottery pick next year? Lamb + TOR pick? Leonard + Splitter?

To be fair to JC, he was a murderer two years ago.

Yea I remember all those talks about trading for him. Wasn't one of the reasons people wanted him because he was a friend of Dwight?

I remember watching high school JC when he and Thad came to the gym on a recruiting trip. Even then, I wasn't a fan of his. Watching him get worked over by guys like Mario West and Zam Frederick wasn't really a good day for him. I never understood the obsession with tall PGs. Just give me a guy who can play.

I never get why guys like JC are still out in the streets handling their own business. I thought once you're a millionaire you're supposed to have a "weed carrier".. A guy who takes the blame for your weed, drives drunk, fights guys, holds the gun etc. I guess maybe Crittenton wasn't known enough to have one. Or just wasn't smart enough..

You would be shocked how quickly that kind of money goes. He probably made 4 million in his 3 years in the NBA. 40% to the US, 10% to an agent, probably rented a house in DC for like 5,000 per month and bought a house in Atlanta for another million and that leaves him with a few hundred thousand. A couple cars, some old family to lend money to that you never see again, a couple trips to Vegas and you're broke trying to get 5,000 from a club for letting them put your name on a promotional flyer.

Can't afford to keep your weed carrier on the payroll when you don't have any income.

The money only goes quickly because they're foolish and don't know the first thing about being responsible with it. Not to say I can blame them, it's an issue with the system. But for me you get no sympathy if you blow through millions of dollars.

Haha, I really don't think he needs your sympathy right now. You asked why he doesn't have a weed carrier and I was just telling you why.

Well, JC would still have an one million house, so that's not THAT bad :P

Here in Atlanta, a million doesn't get as much as you think. Plus I doubt he can afford the upkeep. Has anyone seen that story of what happened to Robert Swift's house?

I just read about it, uhow... and he earned 11.5M in NBA contracts.
