Re: Official Trade Thread XXIII (4/1/13 - present)
What about:
Wiz trade: Ariza+Vesley+2013 1st for Ben Gordon+Detroit futur 1st (top 8 protected in 2014, top 1 protected in 2015, unprotected in 2016)
Indy trade: Granger+#24 for Ariza+#40 overall
Bobcats trade: Gordon+future Detroit 1st for Wiz 2013 1st+Granger
Mock draft:
1) Bobcats-Noel
2) Magic-Mclemore
3) Cavs-Porter
4) Suns-Shabaaz
5) Pistons-Burke
6) Hornets-Smart
7) Sac-Oladipo
8) OKC-Bennett
9) Min-Len
10) Bobcats-Zeller
New Lineup:
Wiz:
PG: Wall/Price/Temple
SG: Beal/Gordon/Temple
SF: Webster/Singleton/McDermott
PF: Nene/Booker/McDermott
C: Emeka/Seraphin
Indy:
PG: Hill/Augustine
SG: Stephenson/Green
SF: George/Ariza
PF: West/Hansborough
C: Hibbert/Mahimini
Bobcats:
PG: Walker/Sessions
SG: Henderson/Taylor
SF: MKG/Williams
PF: Zeller/McRoberts
C: Noel/Biyombo
I can see Bobcats, Suns, Magic, Sac, Tor, Bucks (if they blow it up), Philly, and Utah be worse than Detroit next year (if Detroit signs some FA in the off-season with their cap space) and the Wiz take a player in a much stronger draft.

It is downright awful for Indy. Trading Granger for Ariza and giving up a 1st?
One thing that is interesting is Vesely vanishing in the trade. He is given up by the Wizards and not taken by either of the other two teams.

And while the Bobs would get the best value, trading for Granger doesn't make a lot of sense for them.

I wouldnt even do it if we were getting Granger and a really hot lapdance from a luvabull girl.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Re: Official Trade Thread XXIII (4/1/13 - present)
All this talk about a third guard.. would Lou Williams be available?
Vesely, Rights to Satornasky for Lou Williams and Atl First (they have Houston's 1st already)
We take a risk on Williams who is recovering from knee surgery, hoping he can be a steady 6th man once he gets healthy.
Atl sheds Williams' final year while taking a risk on the Chez connection, which could easily turn into expiring contracts heading into 2014
If we could trade Ariza/Booker/1st for Ilyasova/Ish Smith
Wall/Temple/Smith
Beal/Williams
Webster/Singleton/Atl 1st
Ilyasova/Nene
Okafor/Nene/Seraphin/Late First
I would draft Tim Hardaway Jr with the Atl pick, and try to combine our second round picks for a late first to select Gorgui Dieng

Re: Official Trade Thread XXIII (4/1/13 - present)
^ Agree with all of the comments on the proposed WAS+IND+CHA deal, but it did get me thinking. Assuming we draft big, I wonder if we could still do a different version of it?
Wizards trade: Ariza+Seraphin+Booker+Vesely+2nd
Wizards receive: Granger
Pacers trade: Granger
Pacers receive: Ariza+Gordon+WAS 2nd
Bobcats trade: Gordon
Bobcats receive: Seraphin+Booker+Vesely
Not sure if it works under the cap, but I think it could work for everyone. Indy gets more depth, Charlotte saves 2013 salary, and Washington consolidates assets to get an upgrade at SF.
Okafor/(pick)
Nene/Singleton
Granger/Webster
Beal/Webster
Wall/Price

Re: Official Trade Thread XXIII (4/1/13 - present)
I don't like the Granger idea. With his knee issues, I question if he will even be any better than our Webster/Ariza combo.
And regarding mhd's CHA proposal, I just don't see it happening. Basically, it's a pure gamble on the success (or lack thereof) of Detroit. It's a sacrifice of the known (a #10ish pick this year) for the unknown (Detroit's pick in 2014). GM's don't like uncertainty. They don't make moves like that that are really just rolls of the dice, not when their job may depend on the team's success next year.

Re: Official Trade Thread XXIII (4/1/13 - present)
The Webster/Ariza combo has been very effective this year. In reality, there are probably only a handful of upgrades in the league at SF and we aren't getting any of these guys.
LeBron James
Kevin Durant
Carmelo Anthony
Paul Pierce
A guy like Paul George might be on that list also, although I think hes been a tad overrated (the all-star appearance was unwarranted).
Bottom line, there aren't any real clear upgrades available. We may honestly have to take a step back, especially if Ariza opts out as I suspect he will.
I hope Webster isn't overpriced by the market. I wonder if Webster is really worth a long term commitment.
The Wizards have some real hard questions at the SF position to answer this offseason.

When does Ariza have to make a decision to opt out or not? The timing of that decision could very well impact several different scenarios that the FO needs to plan for.

I think June 30 (?) -- post lotto, pre draft.
Edit: POST draft, which is 6/27.

The opt-out provisions and option years almost always have a June 30 deadline. That's because the new league year starts July 1.

It's a good thing we have this guy to provide all the answers we're looking for.

To be fair, he did find Webster.

Who he, naturally, knew would be more than generic brand floor spacing small forward for the first time in his career. He would have been right about Yi too you know, had every other NBA player turned into a folding chair as they rightly should have.

Re: Official Trade Thread XXIII (4/1/13 - present)
An Ilyasova trade
Was Trades:
Nene, Was 2013 First
Was Recieves:
Ilyasova, Gooden, Milwaukee 2013 1st
Wizards trade Nene for a much better fit with John Wall in Ilyasova
Nets Trade:
Humphries, Brooks, Bucks 2013 First
Nets Revieve:
Nene
Many Nets fans have said before how they would trade this package for Nene. Definitely is an upgrade, and overall makes the Nets a much better team.
Bucks Trade:
Ilyasova, Gooden
Bucks Receive:
Humphries (exp), Brooks, WAS 2013 First, Brooklyn 2013 First
The Bucks help their case to tank for 2014, rebuilding the right way, and save a lot of money. They get Brooks, a higher pick while also dumping Gooden's contract. As good as a haul you could get for Ilyasova.
If need be, the combination of picks can be changed. Thoughts?

Re: Official Trade Thread XXIII (4/1/13 - present)
^ My first instinct is that I don't want to give up a pick (even in a pick swap situation) where we ALSO take on Drew Gooden. Especially when MIL are getting an expiring contract and an extra pick out of the deal.
