Tori Hunter Center Field Option

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Jun 3, 2007 5:04 pm

I'm jumping to the off-season a bit early but I have a feel that Tori will become an option for us if we don't resign Andruw Jones.

People who know say it could take a five-year contract worth at least $75 million for the Twins to re-sign Torii Hunter, who can become a free agent at season's end.

Best bet is that Hunter, 31, will end up with the Rangers in Texas, where he resides.

What would you think about Tori replacing AJ or who do you believe would be a better option?

I'm not a big fan of Hunter to the Braves considering his age and the decent performance of Gregor Blanco at AAA this year.

That's a steep price for an above average hitting cf. Defensively he can go get them but offensively to help carry this team I can't see him doing it. No disrespect to torii

I don't want to see us get much younger and I don't fully support the idea of relying on a rookie center fielder. Tori would provide us with a gold glove, not like Andruw, but still very solid at the least. His bat is solid but the one thing I disagree with would be his asking price.

I would be wary of giving him the length of deal that he's going to command.

How about Byrnes? Some other Braves fans I communicated with are high on him and I have to agree. He'd be affordable and solid for the Braves and prevent payroll nightmares.

Since we're saving money on AJ if we go after Byrnes, do we go after a power hitting LF or 1B?
