Would consider drafting him with a top 3 pick.

Why is Noel rated so far ahead of Adams anyway??

Adams dominated their matchup in high school... I think Pitt's system hurt Adam's stock, half the time they had him 30ft from the hoop setting screens.. If he was in an open system like Noel at UK he would have shown a lot more..

I don't think either player is being hyped up for their offense so I don't think the offensive scheme they played in matters much.

Noel played amazing defense and was much quicker and more explosive than Adams this year.

Keep in mind Adams only played 23mins a game to Noels 32.. their per 40 stats are virtually identical..

Adams per 40 - 12 pts 11 rebs 3 blks

Noel per 40 - 13 pts 12 rebs 6 blks

3 blocks per 36 minutes is a giant difference, what

Especially considering that neither guy has much projectable offense and will be valuable in the NBA based on their defense.

I watched Wichita State-Pittsburgh and was surprised at how fluid Adams is. He's a really impressive athlete. He's raw, but he seems like the kind of center who will be better off in the NBA, picking and rolling and surrounded by shooters, like Drummond is on Detroit's 2nd unit.

A playoff team that has an older center like Boston, New York, or San Antonio seem like good fits. They get a lottery level athlete they can afford to use 12-15 minutes a game. Let him focus on setting picks and playing D.
Where's the D?

adjusted for pace per 36:

adams 12/10.6/3.4
noel 11.5/10.4/4.8

the difference b/t them defensively is that noel is quicker and hunts steals and blks. he'll gamble for stls on the perimeter. also, noel leaving his man and launching himself for a block is a given. adams is better equipped to defend the post. he actually did a good job guarding the PnR as the season went along. he has the lateral quickness to defend it at the next level and he's a pretty disciplined defender as well with no bad habits on that end. a wall-off at the rim, while staying on the ground and being in a position for a rebound or to defend a dump off pass is just as good, if not better than going for the block and removing himself from the play.

unlike every big man in this draft, he's not lacking physically in any area. he just needs to continue to learn the game and improve his awareness.

IMO for two defensive minded players, a 3 block difference is not "virtually identical". Could you post the per 40 steals and assists for each player as well? Thanks

I really like Adams though. GREAT NBA body and a smart defender. But there is a reason Noel is #1. I expect Adams to go top 15.

I think Portland would draft him even with Meyers Leonard.

I would love for the Cavs to package something together to try and get into the top 10 for him. A Porter/Adams draft would be sweet.

Why? They're similar athletes, but Leonard, as raw as he is, is well ahead of Adams at this stage. Portland better think about more help in the backcourt.

Adams is the closest thing to Drummond this year with the best combination of size and athleticism. At the same time he is the kind of player that will get a GM fired if taken too high (lottery), because a good chance he could bust. Got most of his numbers from just being big, not from being able to play the game. He doesn't understand English much at all so there is also a communication barrier. I see him going around 18-24. Much more likely to go to a team with 2 picks who can afford to waste one on a flier (Utah or OKC) .

He's from New Zealand. Where the official language is English.

LOL.

Since when do Kiwi's have a communication barrier :o

It's arguable whether Adams speaks English well but it is his native tongue.

My bad, didn't sound like he spoke it well from the interview. :)

Yeah the interviews certainly could lead you to believe that.

H seems like he has a good attitude and work ethic though, which didn't seem to be the case with Drummond. He's not an athletic freak like Drummond though.
