based on what evidence? hypocrite
More trolling, I see. I didn't make any claim, I just don't consider it likely. So you think a guy living in Massachusetts is taking time out of his day to go online and listen to Mike Wilner in Toronto?

Wilner now has issues dealing with fans, and at least two managers that don't like him (Cito and Farrell). At some point you start to point fingers at the man people hate, and not the ones hating. Farrell certainly isn't alone in his dislike for Wilner.

during a media scrum wilner questioned cito decision of bring on a particular reliever (Forget who) in favour of another who wilner that would do a better job. the jays lost the game. after the scrum wilner was suspended for a couple games.

As for Wilner, he at least knows the game and follows it. Might be a jerk, but it's better than the basketball call-in people who don't know as much.
The problem is that there's a chance he gets promoted to the radio play-by-play at some point in the future which wouldn't be pleasant. It's OK now since he's on a show I can easily ignore.

I find him to be a condescending prick. That's one issue I have with the Jays and Rogers right now. Why are such unlikeable people like Wilner, Zaun and Jack Morris covering the team? Say what you will about the other guys, but at least they don't come across as ****.

Exactly why I don't like him. I can deal with a guy being wrong/making errors whatever. I hate how he talks down Jays fans like we're completely clueless. I know he has to deal with alot of clueless fans, however, he's usually smug and arrogant towards pretty much all Jays fans. We're lucky we've got some quality journalists on the print side.

We do? Maybe Bob Elliott, I guess, in that he sometimes gets scoops and has a lot of contacts. The rest...

Cito only used Shawn Camp for 6 pitches (3 outs) and Scott Downs for 5 pitches (1 out) before going to Kevin Gregg who had a massive blowup and lost the game above. Wilner had the audacity (or the responsibility as a journalist depending on your perspective) to ask him why exactly he would only use two of our best relievers in that fashion. Cito responded by belittling him in front of the media scrum and it resulted in a 3 day suspension for Wilner.

He is the prototypical troll, but I'm not sure if he knows it. That commercial where he's in his poorly fitted suit tossing the baseball up and down in his hand is the ultimate trolling.
Last year I started listening to Jays talk for a few weeks and it would annoy me how he had this aura that he knew everything when he's clearly a knob. I stopped listening since and I've been a happier person LOL.

Well, Bob`s a hall of famer. I like John Lott because he does some nice minor league pieces for the Post. I don`t mind Shi Davidi as well.

I don't see what was so wrong with it. Fans want journalists to provide them the answers they wouldn't otherwise have. Mike tried to get an answer from Cito on what clearly was a dumb move and he gets in trouble, so much for integrity..

Re: Farrell Calls Out Wilner..
Wilner is a tool but he is not the reason people were booing Farrell. Farrell should apologize (not that I really care).
I tuned into Wilner last night briefly. He was attacking some caller who had the audacity to say Lind couldn't hit and wondering if we were looking into other DH options. Unfortunately, the caller backed down after Wilner started playing his pathetic little tough guy act. It's easy to win arguments when you can just mute the caller whenever you feel like it (although this caller really just wasn't smart enough).
Tuned out after that. Keep supporting our scrubs at all costs, Wilner. Maybe Lind will turn it around - certainly, it's too early to give up on him this season, but sometimes it's okay not to be a condescending prick.

Re: Farrell Calls Out Wilner..
This reminds me of a radio segment with Mike Tooth (another tool but obviously something occurred between them behind the scenes) who started criticizing Wilner on the radio about his approach to callers and his Jay homerism. Then he opens the lines and let all the callers let loose on him. It was quite hilarious and well deserved. The only time I enjoyed Mike Roth on the radio. And then he had Wilner on the next day and suffice to say he was pretty pissed about the situation. I loved every minute of it.
While Wilner might be well informed, he is hardly objective and uses the most bizarre logic to back up his point after cutting off his callers. He is a complete homer and it's hard to take him seriously when he defends almost every player or coach's decision. But when he doesn't like a player or coach (ie:Cito) then he will criticize him incessently and with little sense only because he has an axe to grind.
As has been stated he is a condescending moron who has no people skills and probably is very well informed because he has no friends and has a lot of spare time.

Re: Farrell Calls Out Wilner..
Hey guys i was just driving home from doing some sunday shopping, and heard Mike Shillner call the game on the radio. This clown when the Jays are getting their butts kicked in the 6th or 7th inning down 8-0 at that time, has guts to say that this game is far from done (LOOOOOL). Jack Morris was dead silent and did not say anything back. What a homer.

Well a lot of people in the media and around this forum will tell us the old Doug Smith routine of "it's only x # of games". It's all about keeping people interested, even within a game like today.

I don't like Wilner much. I don't care for him to be a topic of discussion really... but yes, he is very condescending on the phone calls and he is the largest Rogers apologist going. He defends every move made by Rogers staff. Been blowing them for years trying to obtain a greater role with the team.
