We lose Nene's leadership, but get a good character vet in Garcia, and two stretch 4 prospects.

I think I would cry tears of joy if the Wizards pulled that deal off, fugop. :)

Nene's health is tenuous. That deal, however, would probably not get done for Emeka Okafor, but he fits salary-wise, position of need for Houston-wise, and he's from Houston.

The beauty of dealing that way is you know the player would be happy going to a team with a bright future, if they had to be traded from this Wizards team (that also appears to have a bright future).

What about this deal:

Wiz trade #10+Jan Vesely for Terence Jones+John Jenkins+ATL pick
ATL trade John Jenkins+pick for Thomas Robinson
Hou trade Thomas Robinson+Terence Jones for Vesely+#10

Rockets saves some cash to get more cap space and get the #10 pick to take whom they want as a future asset/building block. They still have Dontas M as their PF of the future, or could sign Josh Smith, David West, Howard, or Bynum in FA.

Hawks get the #5 pick in last year's draft for a role player in John Jenkins and the #17 pick. I think they do that deal in a heartbeat.

Wiz get a better fit at PF in Terence Jones and John Jenkins as good cheap young role players. They then can take McDermott with the Hawks pick.

You don't trade anything of value for a backup SG. This is a quality for quantity trade... always a bad idea. You can find backup SG's easy enough. Heck, just go sign Morris Almond from the D League and be done with it.

Jenkins is a shooting specialist with a quick release. He'll be dirt cheap for the rest of his rookie deal. He's been impressive this year. The key to the deal for me is Terence Jones (if he were in this draft, he'd be a top 10 pick IMO). Jones actually fits exactly what we want as a PF. He can dribble, has an OK shot, and has Kentucky roots. I don't know if Houston would do the deal to be honest. I think they'd want to keep one of Robinson or Jones. Plus, the Wiz drop down 7 spots and can still grab McDermott.

I'd be very hesitant to move on from a Nene/Okafor front court unless we had to. The frontcourt is potentially the second best in the league defensively. The only team that I am sure is better is Splitter/Duncan.

Are people so quick to forget about our terrible defensive front courts of the past? Motiejunas is a terrible defender with a rating of 110, T-Rob is an undersized rook, Jones is a tweener. Cmon guys.

I wouldn't mind to get T-Rob for pennies on the dollar, but I'm not so fond of dumping Nene or Okafor right now. Nene's trade value is through the floor right now. If he plays healthy next year, we might consider trading him at the deadline, but chances are he'll be good enough that we won't want to. If he is injured next year, nobody will give him much for him.

The Wizards should trade Ariza and Seraphin to OKC for their top 10 pick on draft night. Then we could draft Porter/Shabazz/Bennett and Zeller/Olynyk. We would pick up two eventual starters. Oklahoma would probably do this if they don't win the championship this year as they need a guy who can score inside (Seraphin) and another guy who can defend top perimeter players (Ariza).

OKC is flirting with the luxury tax. They can't take on Ariza's salary. And Seraphin is going to be cheap for just one more year before he becomes a free agent. You are deluding yourself if you think Ariza and Seraphin have that kind of value.

Ok,
WIZ : Jones, Hawks higher 1st round pick, stevenson and white.
Hawks: NENE, plus 1 or both of Emier or Thomas
HOU: Kevin, Booker, Hawks 2ed 2013 first round pick,

Wiz, upgrade with jones, and get another pick that we can use to add to our depth.
NENE gives the hawks one of the better front courts in the league. Plus the hawks might not value this draft much?
Hou gets the pick back that they gave to the hawks and ditches whites deal and saves money with kevin and booker.

??? thoughts ???

2 teams with a 1st round ceiling merge their rosters to create 1 team with a 2nd round ceiling.

Okay, let me try saying that another way: it's train wreck bad. Frankly it's a dubious proposition with absolutely no exchange of draft picks.

NO, absolutely not ! NO! E.G. is not even that dumb. to give up those picks would be 100 percent stupid. No way , just no! Gay is overpaid and the Wiz do not want him, K.L. is injury prone and we are just giving up way to much. !

I think OKC would be intrigued by Seraphin, maybe enough so for a straight swap of Seraphin for Lamb. I don't think we have much to offer for the Toronto pick unless we do a Perkins for Okafor swap, which isn't happening.

Gay is the worst contract in the NBA. You would have to give up picks just to dump him. For the life of me, I don't understand why you traded for him in the first place.

I didnt like the gay trade, but to be fair any un bias fan would say nene is a far worse contract than gay.

Huh? Gay is a high usage inefficient chucker. Nene is basically (as Zach Lowe puts it) a B+ player in every phase of the game. Nene also earns 4+ less per year and is on a straight 13 million a year contract. Gay's deal rises exponentially.
