Is the ball carrying different in the Rogers Centre now?

Post#1 » by Kapono » Sun Apr 7, 2013 7:47 pm

Zaun pointed out that hes never seen the ball carry in the dome like it has this season. He suggested it could be because of the new renovations. Could the removal of the Windows at centre field have changed the way the air carrys some of the balls?

I dont remember balls being hit so far at a regular occurrence in the Rogers Centre like it has lately. So many monster home runs.

Going into today 3 of the 4 longest home runs in the league took place in the Rogers Centre.

Three of the four longest home runs hit in the Majors this season have been at Rogers Centre: Rasmus (468), Arencibia (460), Reynolds (457).

Way too little to go on at this point to say either way.

Zaun also said today that slugging .500 means your average hit is a double today too. So you have to take him with a grain of salt sometimes.

I will say that JPA has never hit a ball that far before in the majors. Rasmus has, though. And Reynolds has several times.

It was during the "ask the expert" segment.

It's carrying pretty good when the other team hits it. That's all I can say after spending the day at the dome today.

Also, LOL at that last exchange about Zaun.

LOL, I didn't see yesterday, but the game before Zaun "the expert" was asked about umpires reviewing their work, and he gave an explanation of how they get reviewed...and I couldn't help but think that whatever he's saying, you probably should lookup first on your own.

Zaun also said we should have held out for Pedroia when we traded them Farrell.
