Rays April Thread
1-2 vs Baltimore, a nice late comeback and walk-off homer for Joyce in the 2nd game.
1-0 vs Cleveland so far, Moore dominated 6.0 innings. Peralta flashed his "quick pitch" late for a K. Love it when he does that.
So far the Pitching and Defense has looked great. Waiting for the Offense to come around. Sound familiar?

Moore dominated nicely.
Still worried about our offense and looking forward to Myers.

The offense remains a huge concern, especially with runners on base.
The bullpen is scary as well.
Rodney has already given up 3 runs this week, while last year he gave up a total of 5 for the entire season.

Re: Rays April Thread
Lots of concern during the first 10 games.
Offensively, this team has been DOA nightly.
Defensively this team has been outstanding.
The rotation has been spotty at best, and the bullpen has yet to earn confidence.

Its frustrating to see this team play because the offense is so bad. I have no confidence that they can score run on a consistent basis. Its no fun baseball and its been like this for 3 years now.

It's time for Fuld and Escobar to head down. They have a combined 6 hits in 60 at-bats and 15 Ks. Bring up Myers to take Fuld's spot. Even if he underperforms at .200 it'll be twice the production. Bring up Hak-Ju Lee to replace Escobar. The dude has a .512 OBP. Granted it's AAA, but there's no denying he's on fire at the plate right now. Not to mention Archer and Torres are tearing it up down there as well.

Re: Rays April Thread
Escobar will hit. He's in a terrible slump....but is a capable hitter.
Lee is not ready, and a full season in AAA will really help him. Lee has not really been all that productive at the plate through his journey in the minors, so he clearly needs some development.
Fuld is what he is..... an end of the bench player. If and when Myers and/or Guyer is ready, Fuld will not be around barring injuries to others

Yeah, it sucks.
The Rays will hit better than they have (batting .205 as a team prior to the recent breakout), but I sense you are right in that this team will struggle to produce runs consistently.
At least the team is starting to get more aggressive on the base paths, but they have lost a lot of punch there too with the loss of Upton.

Hellickson vs Parker tonight
The bats are starting to come alive, so now is the time to put some solid games together.....and who better to do it against than Oakland, which is coming off of a very hot streak.
The rotation has been shaky, the bullpen has been less than competent, and Rodney is scaring me.

Re: Rays April Thread
Rodney was finally able to locate his fastball last night for what was really his best outing of the season.
Hopefully he stays on track.
Hellickson was awesome last night, and peralta was spot on too.
Good crowd as well.
The bats must get better someway, somehow....

Re: Rays April Thread
Rays get some runs off of Milone.....Hernandez pitched fairly well, McGee almost looked like a train wreck, but after Hickey's visit, looked great.
The Rays will need McGee at his best this year.

Rodney does not get the job done last night.
I never like it when Rodney comes in in a non-save sitiutation

Re: Rays April Thread
Alex Cobb continues to pitch VERY well.
I had little faith in him last year when he was inserted into the rotation....but he improved drastically through the second half.
