Do not give up on 6th seed

Post#1 » by basketballrock » Sun Apr 7, 2013 10:34 pm

Rockets have a more favorable schedule than the warriors down the stretch!

They still are able to catch the warriors for 6th seed!

Yesterday's game was a fluke win for Nuggets!

Rockets were LEADING.. YES!! you heard ME! LEADING by double digits early, but fatigue had come to the bodies of rockets players.

- rockets on a back to back in high altitude
- no parsons and delfino
- players noticeably tired (asik, harden, dmo, etc)

We want to get nuggets in the playoffs

- a healthy parsons and delfino AND harden
- lin is starting a hot streak and is going to wear magic sleeve
- garcia is getting better and better with 3 pointer and you combine him with delfino for latino 3 bombers
- a more experience terrence jones, greg smith, other fowards etc.
- nuggets no gallonari maybe no ty lawson or weak ty lawson

Easy on the "fluke" call. The Nuggets went 4-0 against the Rockets this season. They are a legit contender in the West and they are easily the worst possible matchup for this Rockets team. Yeah, we were missing some key guys...but so were they.

Personally, I don't care about the match up - I want the Rockets to finish with the best possible record and go into that series with nothing to lose and give whichever team we face the biggest fight we can give them.

schedule is definitely easier for houston. none of the 6 remaining games for the warriors are against the worst teams in the league. we get phx twice and the kings.

to show how Lin and Harden have played vs our potential playoff opponents.
For example Harden plays well vs SA and OKC but poorly vs DEN and MEM.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Avoid Denver, Rockets' nemesis. go for 7th. i have a feeling Harden will be Jordanesque on that potential 1st round matchup (or Lin vs Spurs)

Rockets could surprise the spurs. Remember a few years back when the spurs got upset in the playoffs because they couldn't keep up with the younger team. Not saying it will happen again for sure but you never know.

Best thing for rockets is to get as many wins as possible (46 or 47, most likely /hopefully ), end the season on a good note but stay at 7 and take on the spurs with a "nothing to lose" mentality. Next season will be even more exciting to watch

ok fyi ROCKETS ARE NOT GOING TO THE SECOND ROUND! the point of our playoff run is to get playoff experience and take whoever we face to 6 games to make it a good series. a great way for a new young team to make noise is to make the playoffs their first year together, and take the higher seed to 6-7 games. should also catch dwight's attention.

and of corse avoid denver

I don't understand how you could say that like it's a known fact... You never know what could happen... It's good to temper your expectations but should still have SOME hope

cmon man you really think the rockets' predictable and simple offense is gonna beat any of the top 5 west teams? we can get 2 wins, maybe 3. but the west is too good. all the top 5 seeds are too much for the rockets

spurs - they're like the tim duncan of the nba, they got everything. and td having a really good season
okc - 2 superstars. one of them being the 2nd best player in the league. elite defense and offense
clippers - depth, elite defense and offense
denver - they dropped 130 something on us w/o their 2 best scorers. hell no
memphis - arguably the best defensive team and have size. zbo would kill us if we end the game with a sf at pf

rockets cant hang with that. no homecourt advantage and we're a bad road team. in the reg season we struggle vs the best teams. dont even have a winning record vs our conference.

i hate to take maxrider's role but someone has to do it. we're good enough to get some wins but cant win a series. IN THE EAST HOWEVER, we can definitely make the 2nd round and maybe the east finals. too bad we're in the west, AND in the southwest division

people doubting the rockets yet again

at beginning of the season they said rockets wont go nowhere

now at the end of season they say they wont make it past first round

rockets will shock the world

and make it to the NBA finals

and may win
