The Brandon Knight is a tough son of a ***** thread
I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. I was intriged by the idea of a traditional PG. Calderon does't work on this team.
Knight has looked good enough to warrant more credit from Pistons fans. He's still young and is improving. Lately he has thrown some dimes I didn't think he was capable of. He's also the toughest player in the NBA. That's a fact.

I think he's the one guy on the Pistons who hates losing too, I get that vibe from him.

This should just be used as a Brandon Knight Appreciation Thread. He's definitely tough and he's our point guard of the future, let him start at PG next season and I'm confident he'll put it all together.

We just need proper wings. McLemore would be the best option but we need luck for that.

Re: The Brandon Knight is a tough son of a ***** thread
This team lacks toughness outside of Knight. This is why I want to bring in Stackhouse, because he's old school tough - which is what this team needs as a mentor/role model. Whether it's Robinson elbowing Jerebko, or Knight getting punched by Artest or run over in the Minnesota game (for two examples off the top of my head) we have nobody even getting a little riled up.
Stack might be old, but I'll forever remember the crazy bastard and his retribution foul on Shaq back in 2006.
Who's considered tough guy 4/5s these days? I know there is no Mahorn's or Oakley's anymore, but who would be the watered down equivilent in todays NBA? Because I want them too to back up Drummond and Monroe (which is also why I wanted Ben back this year).

Agreed. My thoughts:
1) He SHOULD be our starting PG next season and over the long-term.
2) He needs help on the wings - and McLemore would be the perfect fit.
3) He's tough
4) He's a competitor
5) He's a hard worker

Re: The Brandon Knight is a tough son of a ***** thread
Iam willing to give him another year, but his play as of late dosent excite me like it used to,he needs to be WAY MORE CONSISTENT,we have seen him play great games and then disapear for a stretch and then do the same thing. He needs to work on his handles and decision making and if he does that we will probably see a different knight next season.

Re: The Brandon Knight is a tough son of a ***** thread
From Detroit News
Kid goes to work.
He doesn't look the part but Brandon Knight is a beaten-up ballplayer, going through an assortment of injuries that, singularly, would have some of the NBA's best grabbing suits instead of warm-ups before games.
His plantar fasciitis has a couple of premier big men in the East sitting out in Chicago's Joakim Noah and Washington's Nene. Not to mention Knight just got his broken nose reset — the second time he's had that happen in two years.
"Ever since I've come back from injury, the flow's been kinda funky as far as that goes," Knight said. "I'm not complaining. You try to find a rhythm and a way to affect a game."
Kid goes to work.

Knight has the Pistons DNA of the earlier going to work Pistons. If he develops consistency, he's a perfect leader. I wasn't a fan of his before his draft or even last year but this year I've been won over. He's improved a lot defensively and even though he's struggled offensively, he's shown a lot in regards to intangibles. I think he's shown enough offensively to believe that he can be decent on that end due to his work ethic.
He absolutely deserves to come back as the starting point guard next year. Lets not forget how young he still is.

Re: The Brandon Knight is a tough son of a ***** thread
yessir. even though the core of this team is in the bigs, if we can go out and spend big on two wings to complement knight at point we will have a scary, scary team. plus we have another high draft pick this year to bring someone good off the bench. mclemore would be ideal for this team, think noel could give us a 3 legit bigs too, even though i think he will struggle in the nba.. hes not big enough. will be interesting to see what we can add.
brandon is someone who wants to win so badly. will be interesting to see what we can get in the offseason, and what role it gives brandon. think he can be a great scoring point guard and an elite defensive point guard. which thinking about it, if we can get a defensive wing like iggy, and along with the two bigs we can be a dominant defensive team with the right coach.

I'm unconvinced that there is anyone in this draft thatwill be better than knight, Singler or Middleton.

Re: The Brandon Knight is a tough son of a ***** thread
My opinion on Knight's work ethic, desire to be a great player and dedication has never wavered.
But, I have questioned his court vision. He's a talented scorer, I think he has trouble balancing the two responsibilities, considering he's the Pistons best (by a wide margin) perimeter scorer, but he was also tasked with getting everyone else involved.
His assists also took a hit when he was instructed to defer to Monroe, and let Moose run the offense out of the post.
If he's going to be the "point guard of the future", he will have to develop his play making ability. On the flip side of that, the Pistons need to bring in some competent wing players to make the offense work.
Phil Jackson couldn't have coached this team to 35 wins. There is a substantial dearth of talent.

I think Middleton is going to be a fine pro. I like Singler as a glue guy, an energy guy, a very smart BB player and who should develop a strong 3 pt shot - very useful.
Mostly, however, my post was based on my premise that this draft's collection of talent is awful. I see role players, and busts. As much as everyone loves Burke, and he was a GREAT college player with a lot of heart, he was outclassed last night when it counted by Louisville's guards - he couldn't begin to contain them. What on earth is he going to do against NBA talent? And he's probably going to be the 4th pick in this draft, depending on team needs. Burke is small and he doesn't have elite athleticism to make up for it. He'll never be able to defend well enough in the league.
Noel? He's a twig coming off TWO ACL injuries. Please stay away from that guy.
Smart? McLemore? Those are the two guys I'd draft if the Pistons had the chance, because they have potential to be great - but even with them, I saw very little to suggest that they'll ever get it. Honestly, I'd rather stick with Knight and Middleton over those two guys if forced to pick.
And Porter? I didn't see enough of him. If he could be another Luol Deng, then great, grab him. But I hear he's not the athlete Deng is.
So, for me, bottom line, I'd like to trade out of this draft entirely - for a pick in the 2014 draft, if possible.

Whoa...
Smart, Noel, McLemore, Porter, Smart, Shabazz, Burke, Bennett, Oladipo and Zeller are all already better than Singler ever will be. He's a solid role player, but he doesn't have that much room for improvement honestly.
Middleton is a question mark, but I am a huge fan of his. One of the most effortless/prettiest jumpers i've ever seen.

I guess we'll have to disagree for now about Singler. But, since we both like Middleton, why would we be looking to draft a SF? Let Khris play next season to see what we have. Frankly, I think he might have enough handle to play some SG as well.
That list of college players is just a bunch of names of guys who I think will be a collection of disappointments, injury risks (Noel) and role players (Porter? - not sure about him) and Oladipo. Zeller has bust written all over him - he's got to get much stronger to contribute consistently. I guess maybe we could pick Oladipo, but even though he can play a role we need, defensive stopper - I don't know that he'd compliment the guys we have. If Knight becomes a better PG that might work.
I don't know. To me, it keeps coming back to the Pistons drafting a point guard, or trading for one, and possibly just trading their lottery pick. IMO, the Pistons need veteran players more than they need more young talent. I think we're already loaded up nicely with great young talent. The guys we have are going to get a lot better, so finding complimentary pieces to fit around them would make sense. And anything we can do to add picks in the loaded 2014 draft would be fine with me.

Half of those players should end up Epic Fails in the NBA. Thus, Singler may end up being better than half those in the end.

This guy is hilarious...Singler sucks, and Middleton isn't even a starting caliber player...I'm sure this guy has to be younger than 16 or his eye for talent is completely awful...
Back to the topic, Knight is a true piston...He plays defense, plays hard, and he isn't soft...Hopefully he takes it easy this summer and focuses on the weight room...If he came back next season weighing 200 pounds, opposing guard better watch out...
