Celtics were given the underdog role as soon as Rondo went down.
So theyre going to embrace that role like they have done in the past.
Thank god Rondo and Sullinger are out.
Now the fun task of stopping both Pierce and Jeff Green comes into play, thats with KG protecting basket and avery bradley harrassing the knicks guards.
NYC have two offensive options and against a gritty, physical team like the Celtics, theyre gonna have to shoot extremely well against some brutal defense.
Add to this the fact that the Celtics will bully Carmelo and JR Smith and get very physical to take them outta their games.
They have nothing to lose because no one expects them to go anywhere without Rondo and that should be scary for Knicks fans.
I remember Heat fans had the same cockiness before the start of the ECF last year with Ray & Pierce on one leg and Avery Bradley out with the shoulder issues. If not for an epic Lebron James outing that will go down in NBA history, they could very well be defending champs. I lnow Bosh was out for 4 games but the Celtics were short aswell not having Bradley to guard wade.
An in tune Boston defense with Green, Pierce and Terry all firing from the 3 point line can be a scary thing. When KG starts hitting that 15 footer, meanwhile Carmelo is in foul trouble and theyre all yapping in his ear about honey nut cheerios...whilst JR Smith is throwing up horrible low % fade away jumpshot after brick after fading 3....
Should be a fun series.
Once again, Celtics have nothing to lose.
Lets hope the Knicks hot shooting streak doesnt cool down once the playoffs start. Theres a big difference between the last 20 games of the regular season and the last 21 of the playoffs.
Cant wait for this series.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

The days of the celtics having their way with the knicks are over. I'll be glad to see the celtics in the first round, it will be sweet justice if we sweep them. The whole "for-mid-able" thing can finally be behind us.

Some of you guys are really not thinking clearly. This is not about revenge, or proving a point or being scared of anyone. This is about WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP!

Teams rest their guys around the playoffs so that they go into the post-season strong. They don't play their main guys just to show everybody how tough they are. They think strategically and find the best route to winning it all.

THAT is what we should be doing, not trying to prove an unnecessary point. We have an older team, so why beat them up and possibly go 7 games in Round 1, just to limp into round 2 and possibly the ECF?? That would be stupid. If we could play the Bobcats in Round 1, I'd take that over a team like Boston with tons of playoff experience and a championship. It doesn't make us afraid of Boston to want the clearest path to our goal of winning a championship. It just makes us smart!

Why wouldn't you be concerned about the Celtics? The Heat are and they're better than your team. Heck, you could have the Hawks instead and nobody fears them. Anyway, good luck to beating the C's in the Garden in Game 6 with the "noise generators" that Marv Albert and his vast following of fellow panty-wearing fans claims we have.

Fans don't play the game, so what we prefer means nothing.

No team worth their nuts is going lose a top spot for favorable matchup, they play whom they are given.

Are you seriously trying to bait here? This is your one warning. Back to the Celtics board with you.

Yep. I don't think this team is looking at ANY matchup as a favorable one. This team knows the importance of advancing in the playoffs. Whoever we face, I expect the team to treat them seriously.

I am sure the Knicks want this match-up. The Celtics have been the Atlantic Division Kings for the past 5 years. Pierce and KG have been shytting on the Knicks for the past 5 years. What better way to start the playoffs than to sweep the bytch ass Celtics. I CANT WAIT!!! #bartscottvoice

I am concerned. I'm 99% sure that we would beat the Hawks and I want them in the 1st round.

However,I'm not so sure about beating the Celtics. They are tough. Even if we beat them it will be a tough series, not as easy as all of you expect.

I think the chances are 60/40 in favor of the Knicks. But I don't want us to play in a tough series to open the playoffs so I hope we get Atlanta and get that sh*t over with in 5 games.

This has already been stated, but I'll reiterate: IF we are truly contenders, then we not only welcome the challenge, We EMBRACE it! Bottom line, if we can't beat the Celts in a 7 game series - we DON'T DESERVE a title!

I'd rather face them in the second round with the first round monkey off our back.

I was gonna say the same thing. The Knicks need a practice round, just to get all that stuff out of the way. Let's face the Celtics in the second round... if they can make it.

There is no way to face them in the second round. Celtics are an easy first round exit whoever they face.

The only reasons I would not want to play the Boston Celtics is because I don't want to hear Doc Rivers whinning to the refs all series, and I also don't want to run the risk of hearing/seeing Tommy Heinsohn. That guy is a grade A tool.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...

**** Boston. It's not we who should be concerned about them. It's them who should be concerned about the Knicks.

The Boston team entering the playoffs has never played with that particular lineup in the post-season before. A lot of people believe KG, Pierce, Bradley, Green, etc. is enough to get out of the 1st round (i.e., beat the Knicks) without Rondo.

I don't see that at all.
