Jays claim Casper Wells DFA Burnett

#Bluejays designate Alex Burnett from assignment after having claimed Casper Wells on waivers from #mariners

Wells was designated for assignment prior to opening day after losing the battle for the last outfield spot with Jason Bay. He’s been in baseball limbo ever since. The Mariners had hoped to sneak him through waivers and outright him to Tacoma.

But the scuffling Blue Jays claimed Wells. They will now have to place him on their 25-man roster

Clearly AA is in panic mode.

This org is now the laughing stock of MLB.

I mean, it's not as if Casper Wells is actually a decent player to have the bench, who can hit lefties and play all three outfield positions.

Are you Morosi?

We might as well create a new thread every time someone gets waived around the league. It's inevitable we'll pick them up.

Nice knowing you Edgar Gonzalez

Immediately becomes the team's best option at DH against LHP by far. I hope they use him as such.

Not as rare as Jon Morosi sharing an intelligent thought, but whatever, fan those flames Jon.

Wells is a very reasonable bench OF. Can and should keep him on the roster.

Yup, He's surprisingly good vs lefites - never said other wise.

At least he isn't atrocious like Gonzalez.

John Lott ‏@LottOnBaseball 21s

AA says Jays like Casper Wells' splits vs. left-handers and the fact he can play all OF positions …

Why DFA Burnett? I thought he was a pretty decent reliever?

Guess its because there was no space for him the bullpen.

Lind will mysteriously have his kneecaps broken in a freak tire iron accident outside the Dome, and will go on the 15-day.

Sure, that's one possibility :)

You gotta think though, with Wells on the roster and Bonifacio available to play the outfield as well, Rajai Davis is looking pretty redundant right now.
