Over/Under on Kobe suiting up for the first game of 2013/14

I'm betting under.

he'll suit up 30th/31st October

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/stor ... es-surgery

Vitti said Bryant would be immobilized for at least a month after surgery. If Bryant were to recover on the short end of the six-to-nine month timetable the team provided, he might be able to play at the start of the 2013-14 season.

"That's the plan," Vitti said.

Bryant told Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak as much.

"Speaking to him this morning, that certainly was his goal," Kupchak said. "I think it would be aggressive to think he could be ready for training camp ... (but for the season opener) I think that's a goal. I think that's a realistic goal for him."

Pau Gasol had full confidence in Bryant's ability to achieve his goal.

"He's a guy that when you put something in front of him, he will get it done," said Gasol, who sent Bryant a text message with his support. "He will do it. He will put everything he's got on the line for it."

The injury isn't something you can just heal back from this quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if he was back by the playoffs next year. Brand for example took around 264 days to play again and even with Kobe's age I believe he could do something similar. First game regular season seems impossible.

Sorry,just don't see it

If it would be a partial tear I'd say yeah, but from all reports it seems it is a complete tear

We have roughly 6 months until the start of next season, not even Kobe can get healthy that soon......and I don't think he'll force it until he feels he's close to his normal self
Just don't see Kobe playing just to play, without being able to do what he does on a consistent basis

Honestly ,I'd be happy if he would be back around Christmas, but I'm expecting a return around the All Star game at the earliest

Would you want him to come back early?

Can't see him coming back till January probably February (10 months). He really needs to let it heal. We know his painthreshod is insanely high for a human being but his body needs to be good healed up proper.

I wonder if Kobe might consider getting some work done on his other injuries.

they say 3-9 month injury layoff

knowing kobe, he'll do whatever it takes to stay ahead of the curve. its going to be a little over 6 months until the season opener.

its a long shot, but if id bet my money on anyone defying their body, its kobe

Out until the All-Star game, at the very least. IMO, he should pull a Rose and take the whole season off. I believe Kobe can come back from this, but not if he rushes it.

Also, like it or not, it's important we get a high draft pick...

I tend to agree,sadly

Without Kobe for most of the season, maybe we can get a low playoff seed at best and get killed in the first round
Does it really worth it?

I'd rather suck hard, get a high draft pick, and reload in 2014 with that cap space

Hope Kobe will be healthy by then, and with Dwight, the pick and maybe some FA's ...we will be a threat again

But it's not gonna happen,we're not a franchise known for tanking....we'll go hard

he won't be back until after the ASG if it's a full tear which by all indication it is.

ugh misread the poll and thought it said would he be back for the 2013/2014 season.

I wouldn't want him to be back early anyway. If he's going to continue playing at a high level past 2014 then it's time for Kobe to heal up for once.

Barring a miracle MRI of course, looks like it might be a complete tear. You know Kobe will be flying all over the globe lookin for the next Germany treatment. I'm sure Kobe would like to be back that early, hell he'd probably saw off his foot and get a robotic prosthetic if he could and suit up on Sunday.

Stern needs to cancel next season. If Kobe can't play, nobody can!

He will return around middle of season since his body will respond slower to rehab at age 35. He wont get much lift on his jumper and will be susceptible to reinjuring that same tendon during the season. He needs to take his time like D rose an return

If anybody could return by the start of next season it would be Kobe Bean Bryant but I highly doubt he'll be ready to play at a high level that soon. I'm hoping he returns mid to late December ready to kick some ass!!!

It's always funny when people do this, making a direct comparison of compare two different athletes with different body types and act as if both tear is the exact same. You can tell people who never played any sports competitively who posts stuff like this.

No, Kobe shouldn't look at another player who had a completely unrelated injury as any sort of reference to a return.

The staff targets his return for the season opener and you suggest him to take the whole season off?
