Kobe Bryant injury commiseration thread - Wish him well here

Post#1 » by PenguinBoxer » Sat Apr 13, 2013 6:00 am

Wow, I am at a lost for words. 24 years spent on this planet, with a hoop in my backyard and a ball in my hand I grew a love for the game. NBC Sundays with kobe and shaq some of my earliest childhood memories. Over at friends house putting up 81, couple more rings while im graduating. And now this.... Basketball is one of the most important things to myself, and kobe has always been there with me.

So as of today, I look back, I say thank you, for the memories, for the glory, for the pain, for the triumph, For the viable life lessons. I am grateful, thank you bean.

From a Knicks fan: Keep your head up Lakers fan base...

Post#2 » by NYKMentality85 » Sat Apr 13, 2013 6:49 am

Because Kobe Bryant will return as an all-time great. I'm not one for posting on opposing teams forums, but this was a must. Sad day for the NBA, Laker fans along with Kobe Bryant himself. Kobe Bryant is truthfully the closest thing I've seen since Michael Jordan dating back to Michael Jordan himself. A true Champion if I've ever seen one. This one disheartened me as a pure basketball fan.

I hope to see Kobe Bryant recover and return with a quest of breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record for all-time points scored. I would love to tell my daughter who's only two years of age along with my future grandchildren that I was blessed enough to witness the ABA/NBA's all time scoring champion. And I believe I'll one day be able to state the above. He's only 6,770 points away. He has a career scoring average of 25.5 points per game. Even if he returns at say only 18 points per game (underestimating), he'll still pass Kareem in exactly 4.6 years. If he can average only 20.0 points (averaging 27.3 this season) he'd pass Kareem in 4.1 years without question.

There is no way on earth and/or living hell that Kobe Bryant goes out like this. Not at the age of only 34. He ain't going down like this. Too much of a competitor to allow a season ending injury to translate into a career ending one. He will return with a goal and focus that's second to none. And he'll climb that leaderboard while doing so too.

If Grant Hill is still playing at the age of 40, no way Kobe Bryant doesn't return as the true competitor he's always been (and always will be). As a Knicks fan I know the feeling of injuries. Seen it with Ewing and his knees and it hurt deeply. Keep your head up Laker fans because like Chicago with Jordan, you all have been truly blessed to witness (and enjoy) Kobe's greatness dating back to 1996-1997 (17 years and STILL counting). And will be just as blessed to witness Kobe's up coming return as a true NBA warrior.

So long, and I'll be sure to bump this thread in order to celebrate his return. Bookmarked.

Wrong. I don't evade anything. Was banned due to being a passionate Knicks fan on the general board and since my return? Have never once posted on another forum (outside of the Knicks) along with 1 post here (Lakers) and 1 post (Indiana) in order to wish them luck moving forward. Welcomed back to the Knicks boards by not only our fan base, but the mods in general under my original name of NYK Mentality. This thread isn't about me though, I just want Laker fans to understand that Kobe's coming back mentally stronger than ever. Which I'm sure they already know and a lot more than myself.

GB is ****ing garbage

A LOT of classless, mentally screwed, scumbags on there. They can come here and scream and chant "UMADBRO" at me all they want, but to practically CELEBRATE A GUY TEARING HIS ACHILLES is disgusting.

Yeah it's the dumbest board on these forums, seriously the guys there have to be about 15-16 years old. Because grown men don't discuss basketball in such childish manners.

Well what do you expect. Those are guys that have watched Kobe crush them time and time again. I'd stay out of GB, and any other basketball forum for that matter for a very long time.

hey listen. they don't understand us lakers fans. they don't know what its like to win every single year after year, and they don't know how much Kobe Bryant means to us. Kobe Bryant is not related to me but I feel like I lost a loved one or relative when he went down.

AND FYI, THE GM BOARD HAS A BUNCH OF TROLLS DONT WORRY BOUT THEM WE WILL BE STRONGER!! KOBE WILL COACH US TO THE FINALS!!

Much respect NYKMenttality85, we Laker fans know he will bust every ounce of sweat getting back. I couldn't care less if you had a ban or not...it ain't our business nor is it relevant, don't know why the other poster felt the need to blast that.

BTW, I got the Knicks being the ones who wreck the Heat dreams of repeating. Do that work in the east.

Hey guys.

I'm a mod on the GB and yeah, it's pretty bad right now with trolls. So my advice to you guys is for today, to avoid it. We'll be handling them the best way we can.

Kind regards,
